Default Yao retires.

Just announced.

I'm sure people will rag on him, but I liked the guy. He was very classy on and off the court and helped the Rockets win ball games. If he wouldn't have had selfish guys like Steve Francis and T-Mac on the court with him, he probably would have had a legitimate shot at a title.

Bittersweet feelings about the guy.

Definitely made the hype machine work.

19.0 PPG
9.2 REB
.524 FG%
.833FT%

Not bad career averages for playing hurt a good percentage of the time.
Compare to other great centers. His numbers are right in line with guys like Patrick Ewing.

Im kinda hoping he doesn't retire. There are conflicting stories from his agents, and he hasn't officially asked for or turned in paperwork. I hope the guy gives it one more chance!

Yep, "bittersweet" describes it well. I never thought that was a move that could bring a championship back to Houston, but it definitely brought World attention to the Rockets and Houston as a whole. He was a class act and that gives him bonus points in my book.

Yep I bet if I was that tall and had some basketball skills and got passed the ball most the time I'd have a pretty good average. If anything its was just his height that help em out.

Well...when ya eat rice and noodles for most of your life....your bones tend to be a little brittle. Nutriants and minerals, protiens and aminos and potassium sure do help. What a waste of money to the City of Houston. He got blocked and dunked on in the same game by the shortest player in the league. Nate robinson hung his nutts all in Yaos face. Yao=Overrated.

Sad to see him go, however; the Rockets need to turn the page.

Bolded text solidifies your ignorance (not to mention pretty much everything else you wrote). That guy made the city of Houston and the Rockets organization so much money, it's not even funny.

Yes he did, the Asian population here and abroad started watching a lot more Rockets basketball. I remember him making a huge splash here when first arrived, it was Yao mania.
