Default Battery cable queation

I am relocating my battery to the spare tire area. Will 4ga wire be ok for that long run?

No. You need to use welding lead.

That's what I would run. You gotta think just how long this is gonna be. The longer it is the bigger it needs to be.

Yeah I was kind of doubting it. I wanted a second opinion. I'll take this back and get the 0ga. My distribution block will handle up to 0ga so I am good there.

Bigger is better. 4ga would be ok on a rod/custom with no AC, radio, basic lights, etc. On modern cars that light up like Vegas, more is better and will prevent problems. High output alternator would be your friend too.

If anyone is interested. I have a taylor aluminum box, 0 or whatever is the next bigger size from 0 which i think is 0/2 gauge welding cable with soldered, crimped, heat shrunk ends. A negative cable as well. I ended up going to a lighter battery up front.

What made yougo back to a front battery? Got a part number for the battery?

After relocating the battery my car always clicked when I tried to start it. After a couple of tries it would turn right on. There is a thread in the drag racing section where a couple of guys found a fix for this "common" issue which was basically replacing the factory ignition relay with a bigger one.

This is what I'm using now with the stock cables.
