On that same day in the same car I had babied the car out of the whole. I ran a 12.5 @ 112mph. The speed of my car at the finish line was not effected by my launch. The only thing effected by my launch was the time it took me to get down the track.
i understand the whole math equation of trap speed = power

but you wont achieve maximum trap speed when you have almost 2,000rwhp pushing 2 street tires...... you will only go as fast as traction/time allows you

the base Bugatti Veyron does 204 in the mile but its top speed is 50mph faster than that.......

its not hitting its power/wind turbulence limit at the mile

and this is a 4,162lb 4wd 1,000 flywheel hp car...... at speed traction is NOT an issue with this car

now take a camaro with literally twice as much hp, half the amount of traction and hundreds of lbs lighter..... thats one hell of a combination for traction issues even at high speeds

if the heavy *** Bugatti isn't hitting its power/air turbulence limit in the mile, what makes you think the LMR camaro with over TWICE the hp is hitting its power/air turbulence barrier???

im saying the LMR camaro could have went faster if it had traction to use its power...... but by going off of your "trap speed" theory then you are saying its trap speed wouldn't change

1,000 hp bugatti = 204mph in the mile

2,000 hp camaro = 244mph in the mile

are you telling me that 1,000 EXTRA hp only gets you 40mph???...... i know it take a lot of power at high speeds to go faster because of air turbulence but at those speeds it doesn't take 1,000 hp to go an extra 40mph

and another theory on here is that these cars are at full throttle from the halfway mark on...... so they wont go any faster because they are hitting their limit of power/air turbulence

well are you guys telling me that the bugatti goes 254mph with 1,000 hp and the LMR car goes 244mph with 2,000 hp???

really? 244 is that cars top speed when the bugatti goes faster than that with HALF the hp???

AWD Sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you own a big HP car that's AWD you will understand...

Please stop acting like this is a deal breaker... The Orange UGR LP makes 193Xrwhp and put it on an AWD dyno it will make well over 1800rwhp... 500 more awhp than the GT-R... Yet it has major traction issues. Can't make it down the mile...

The 1/4 does not matter. I don't know how you can't get this through your head. Have you ever ran the mile, or even been to it?

i've never said anything about the 1/4 mile in particular

the ONLY thing i was referring to in the 1/4 we the similarities on traction issues from my 600 & 1000cc bikes

and i haven't owned an awd car, nor have i put much time in researching the idea of awd in high hp applications other than basic thinking that it would have better traction...... but maybe not, i'll agree i dont know for sure

but the conversations shifted to traction/power and some people think

i respectfully disagree..... i believe the lmr car could go faster with better traction and i think its not near its top speed potential

maybe awd isnt the answer for traction, like i said i dont have experience with high hp applications on awd setups

BUT

the only reason why i brought up awd is because of my thought process on traction

so i think of 2 things that most everyone disagrees with

#1 the lmr camaro would have gotten a faster mph with better traction
#2 the lmr camaro was NOT near its top speed

saying "finding their terminal velocity" is a fancy way of saying they have reached their top speed

i seriously doubt that a 1,000hp bugatti can go 254mph and a 2,000hp camaro only goes 244mph...... i highly doubt the lmr camaro has reached its full potential of top speed

You are a great bench racer. You know paper statistics very well but you have zero understanding of physics.

DONT underestimate the GT-R..its another one of those over engineered car like the Supra...and look how stupid alot of people from this site and others sounded with all the **** talking back in the days!! IRS sucks, cant run **** at the 1/4 mile, 6 speed sucks, blah blah..

and now..there is no other car that can run 7's in the 1/4 mile and over 246MPH at the mile!!!!

just give the tuners some time to figure stuff out..the GT-R has been only out for a few years..

back when my buddies where buying lambos, i didnt even really wanted one cuz they were "SLOW", and look how fast the lambos are now.
