Default Astros trade Hunter Pence

If it wasn't official before, it is now. Ed Wade is a ******* retarded midget.
I'm convinced that little ****** never actually stopped working for the Phillies.

I reallllly hate to see him go. He was the franchise player. I thought they would at LEAST get Domonic Brown out of it, but apparently not. I will say this: this is the year to do it. You can't get much worse than the worst record in baseball. Clearly, we are in a rebuilding phase, but, don't we need some guys to rebuild with? I'm not seeing it just yet. Then again, I'm not too big on keeping up with the minor league guys.

I am diehard Astros fan and was sad to hear that tonight. My kid plays on a few select baseball teams, wears #9 and his pants the same. He was sad also.
I seems like we never get anything out of these trades. Hell it's like the main Phillies are all ex-Astros.

The astros got the top pitching prospect and top bat out of the phillies farm system. If y'all trade with the braves they will end up with another great pitching prospect at least.

I know its hard to say what prospects will do anything, but the more good ones you have, the more that will stick. Its what the rangers did, and look at them now. Gonna take a few years of good business decisions and mediocrity on the field though. Maybe the new owner will have it in him.

Well, rebuilding started last year when they got rid of Berkman and Oswalt, but damn getting rid of the younger player, where does it end. Maybe we can get the number 1 draft pick

Well we should make a decent AA farm team for a real professional team. Maybe if the Astros and Mariners join up, they can win 30% of the games.

Keeping Pence here would have been selfish, in a way. This team is bad, and it's going to be bad for at least a few more years, seeing as our farm system is an absolute joke. If the Astros want to return to success, they either need to spend a bunch of money in free agency (and hopefully on the RIGHT players, unlike what Drayton tended to do), or develop a farm system. To get players, you have to give players, and that's what this move did.

Either way, by the time the Astros are a contender again, Pence will be past his prime. He did more good for the Astros by netting them prospects than he would have on the field over the next few seasons.

What I don't like is that Ed Wade keeps making deals with the same teams, especially the Phillies. They are a contender each year, so they're "buying", but it just looks bad that he keeps adding key pieces to his former employer. You mean to tell me the Braves didn't have some prospects we could use? Or the ENTIRE AMERICAN LEAGUE?

If I'm Jim Crane, this is probably Ed's last season. Bring in someone who has your vision for a GM. We just have to hope that vision isn't "maximize profit, and if we happen to accidentally win some games, that's a bonus".

LOL we were talking about this at lunch today, my grandfather said he was no longer going to watch the Astros AKA Triple A team for the Phillies. Pretty sickening to watch a team that was a serious contender turn into a joke like this. you hear Crane imposed a 60 mill Cap? sounds like he just wants some cheap chumps and just fill the seats when good teams roll through town and whup our asses.

I feel Hunter was our our new Biggio. A great all around guy and badass player. We need to build the new team around him

I understand making moves to help bring in future talent and rebuild, BUT what makes this deal horrible is that Hunter was the new face of this franchise. He replaced alot of what we lost when Biggio left. He's a scrappy young player who people love to watch play the game, and he plays it the right way. Good luck Philadelphia, and don't worry........your new minor league team will surely continue to ship good talent your way at a rock bottom price as long as Ed wade still has a job here

I'm gonna buy a Phillies jersey, and have "Wade" put on the back of it and rock it at every game I go to now........ordering now.

It's time for the fire sale. Bourn, Wandy, and Meyers (last year would have been ideal). The astros never do this kind of thing when the iron is hot (see Tejada a couple years back). If they are willing to trade Hunter they should be ready to trade the rest of the remaining pieces with worth.

If ANY team will take Carlos off are hands we need to do it. I'm so tired of that guy slap dicking it on the field. If I was the manager he would have been multiple times by now.

/rant

edit: There goes Bourn
