Default Good to be a Texan

Took my CHL yesterday

Shot 243 out of 250.

I tested with a Walther PPS 9mm and I fell in love.

I currently have a Taurus Millennium PT111 9mm that I'm looking to sell or trade + cash.

Any idea where to look local? I compare on budsguns and alot of places can't come close.

Just out of curiosity, how much would you want for it? I'm about to get my CHL here soon.

Negative... If it says Taurus you should get rid of it.

I tell everyone to wait for a gun show. There are not many deals left at gun shows anymore but you will not buy a pistol cheaper any were else. You can find good deals on the net but by the time you pay shipping and the transfer fee it is not such a good deal any more.

The LCP I just bought I will be selling too lol it's just to small.

The PPS from budsguns is $578.00 with free shipping and no tax then you can have it shipped to a ffl for $15.00. Then I just found out there is a $50.00 rebate on Welther guns so looks like I will be at $543.00

Lol why is the .40 better? It's all about bullet placement. Someone made your same comment in my chl class. You can place and control a 9mm round better then a 40. Unless you like the big bang and high price ammo go for it.

Very true about placement, but I'd rather have a caliber where it takes less bullets to do the job when the time comes to it. Everyone thinks there are billy bad *** with the notion of someone coming into their home and shooting them. If you never had that happen to you, you're in a world of a surprise. I was scared shitless when it happened to me. But I had a job to do and did. I carry a .45, and it dis everything I needed it to do.

But you have to think about it. When you plan to shoot someone your not going to shoot once then see if he is dead.... No your going to empty a whole clip.

About the shooting thing. They say 10% of the population have that warrior mindset and 7% of those are criminals.

I would say 75% of my chl classes has never owned a gun much less touched one.

After this class my mindset has changed really. Before you would think ""if they rob me I'm going to shoot them there not taking my stuff" When in fact it needs to be ""here is my wallet"" and shoot them in the back as they leave.

Not really. A new Taurus yes. 4-5year + no. Quality of Taurus went down because of massive production and cheap cost of the gun.

I listed it for $280 on texasguntrader I have never had a jam or misfire ever. I just want the PPS lol.

i've got a taurus 24/7 that i've been regularly throwing lead down range with for the better part of 6 or 7 years... if the new gen tauruses are lower quality that makes me sad because mine has been a beast of a pistol. i just got my CHL about 2 months ago, scored a 249/250 on the shooting with my 24/7. i need to get a designated carry pistol one of these days

I sold my Taurus last night for $300.00.

Bought the Walther PPS 9mm from budsguns for $578.00 shipped no taxes. $6.00 insurance. $15.00 FFL Transfer fee so paid a total of $599.00 out the door.

Walther is offering a $50.00 rebate on new guns. So with that and the $300.00 I got for the old gun it was a $249.00 upgrade

Wow you're an idiot. There is so much more to shot recovery than just caliber. My dads xd tactical 45 has the same recoil as my buddy's xd sc 9. Barrel length, powder, grain and gun weight have more to do with shot recovery than the diameter of the bullet. All that aside there is a VERY negligible difference between the 9 and 40 recoil wise, while the actual ballistics is night and day especially once you get into the heavier " defense" rounds. There's a reason many law enforcement agencies are going to 40 despite more expensive ammunition. 9s are good for target practice and getting the mechanics of shooting down(due to cheaper ammo) then step up to a caliber that's actually useful.

I carry an xd sc 40, best compromise in size and knock down power out there imo.

So your telling me a 9mm round shooting center mass will not kill you as quick as a 40?

You're an idiot! end of story.

FN 5.7 with the correct round will do better but you don't see people carrying them.

9MM is just fine. The US military still uses the M9 (beretta 92f) and M11 (sig p228). All about shot placement and follow-up shot accuracy with the 9MM is hard to beat. I have several guns in various calibers, the browning 9mm high-power is still my favorite.

Actually yes, there are numerous accounts of officers putting multiple rounds into assailants with a 9 and not taking them down. Check out the LEO forums you'll see by far the preferred no issue caliber.

Well no **** its all about shot placement but do you think in a stressful situation you're going to hit dead on COM? I'll let all the videos of LEO shootouts where they're trained professionals and unload magazines without hitting a perp a single time.

The reason 9mm is used so prevalently is due to the bean counters, its not the best gun for the job but it gets the job done and is cheaper. Same thing with military body armor, the cheapest bidder got the contract and now its been proven the BILLIONS of dollars spent on it were wasted since they don't pass the ballistics deflection test.

Also the DOD has a contract out for a new sidearm in 40 caliber, now whether it not it will go through who knows. I haven't paid attention in a couple years to see how it ended up but it was a reason for the redesign of the xdm to have an active safety.

At the end of the day the most important characteristic of a gun is comfort. If it feels natural and fits your hand good you will shoot good. A bazooka does you no good if you can't shoot it. I can't even begin to count how many people I've seen at the range with horrible posture and technique. My chl class was downright scary, and I actually had to take the pistol away from the lady next to me because she was muzzle flashing me so much right before she was called out in front of the entire firing line by the instructor. Some people just aren't meant to shoot a firearm.
