Default Illegal exhaust ticket Denton County???

I just recieved 2 tickets for 1.illegal exhaust and 2. expired inspection. I haven't had the car running since june. I just got the trans fixed and was out for a joy ride. I gave it some gas from a stop and didn't relize that was a denton county sheriffs deputy around. He flew up behind and gave me a bunch of crap as usual. I explained about the inspection and he didn't care just get it fixed. Now onto the exhaust. He told me that if he can hear my car with his car radio on then my car is too loud. So he wrote me a ticket for illegal exhaust. I have longtubes with true duals and spiral flow mufflers. He never mention why it was illegal except that it was too loud. He told me it was up to the DA on that ticket. Well my car is heads and cam so yes it is loud. What do I need to do in this situation. I don't want to pay the ticket but I don't want to loose in court which I have before. I don't believe that it is fair becuase consider all these Harley's that are loud as ****. I don't think my car is much louder then them if it is at all. If you have had this issue before please chime in on what you did to get it taken care of. I don't want to have to go back to stock exhaust just pass a ticket. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Inspection sounds like a fix-it ticket... get it done and they'll drop it

The exhaust is illegal if its dumped below the cabin... pay the fine or fix it

Find some one with the same car/color as yours and take a video if they have quiet exhaust. Just change the plates for the video... LOL

Hopefully they don't check the internet and read about how you are planning to cheat the system. Just sayin.

True I don't think they, but you never know. I will honestly not cheat the system. I will just fix it and get it taken care of.

The inspection ticket may drop if fixed... Unless they have a stipulation on how expires it can be. I got one in Westlake and if more then 60 days expires I had to pay the fine in full. The other try talking to a traffic lawyer to see what he thinks your chances are. Cop sounds like he was jus bein a dick, must have been a Ford guy. Lol

As far as I know, if he didn't have a decibel reader he shouldn't of been able to give you a ticket. I had this problem once he couldn't provide one so he couldn't prove that I actually broke the law. Anything above 6 IIRC is ticket worthy though. Like another member said though if it dumps under the car he's able to give you a ticket but not for exceeding the noise limits.

1: Harleys are cool. Or something like that. That's way a lot of them don't get crap from anyone.
2: The inspection can only be a "fix it" ticket as long as it is not over 90 days expired, some counties are 30 days.
3: The Loud Exhaust is officer's discretion. Easily thrown out if you make it quiet so the court clerk can get their opinion.

I would pay a lawyer a couple hundred to handle it or just pay it. I've gotten tickets "no muffler" tickets before, techinically I had bullet mufflers, but I kept quiet as I didn't want to get a no catalytic converter type ticket. I don't really see anyway of getting out of it, besides a lawyer.

roanoke thats why right there. they have a problem with loud vehicles as they have a no engine brake law in the city limits for truckers which imo is kinda dumb since the engine brake helps them stop quicker.

Just and Update: Called the sheriffs department today and talked with about the tickets. I was told that the Illegal Exhaust is not a fix it ticket and that I would just have to pay the fine. I am waiting to find out the total for that ticket. I will call back later and let you all know whats up. Looks like I will be quieting the exhaust done. I am tired of dealing with this crap.

What a ******* cop, I DD my car and it's loud as **** and dumped. Never have had any problems, even when I've been pulled over they haven't said anything.
You should call a lawyer and ask him what you should do. That sounds like bs to me, there has to be other ways around paying it. Call James Mallory idk if he handles denton county tho.

Default Roanoke

they have nothing better to do in Roanoke. The police and JP court in Roanoke is set up for no other purpose than issue ghey BS tickets and steal from the public. sorry excuse for real police work.
