I'm pretty sure any state allows you to kill an intruder in your home. Anyone know of any states that do not allow this?

Not all states have a castle law. Okla. does. The kicker is, the perp had an accomplice. That accomplice got charged with murder because he was up to no good when his buddy was shot and killed. Too bad for the girl, she's lived a long life already.

I would have shot him through the door!
He's on the front porch and trying to get in, he's dead! Why wait until they get the door open, especially when there's more than one of them.

just make sure they are dead, dead people can't sue you. Civil cases can be a lot worse then criminal.

On the portch could be an issue, but once that door is open, let him/her have it!

Might get by with it in TX, but some states require that the perp actually be inside the house. Some will prosecute if you shoot someone in your house when they're trying to get away. Spend some time on national gun forums and you'll see how screwed up some state's laws are on this subject.

Intruder also had a knife if I remember correctly. Why did it take the police 20+ mins to arrive in the first place though after she first got on the phone with 911? I'd have killed him just as dead, she had a baby to protect along with her own life.

According to the news article it happened in Blanchard OK which on google maps looks like a little podump town. Most of those towns do not have their own police depart and rely on county sheriffs or state troopers to patrol. Depending on where they are when they receive the dispatch would account for the time it took to respond.

Take note, if you shoot through the door, you go to jail.

If you shoot a perp in your house, make sure he doesn't exit your home before you finish him off.

Make sure the perp enters your home, then proceed to take his head off.

If the perp enters your home and he tries to flees, you can only shoot him below the belt.

I think that may be outdated. I think Pennsylvania last year became the 27th state to pass some form of Castle Doctrine law.
