I've done a bit of fishing lately since I have most of the summer off. The best place I have found off a pier is Hunt's Castle in Rockport. Giant pier with green lights that extends to around 100 yards from the channel. I will catch 50+trout a night, and some keepers. 3 nights ago, I left at 8pm, drove south and hit about 6 piers along the coast from Palacios down to Rockport. Spent about 1-2 hours on each pier, night waded out on some jetties, etc all down the Texas Coast. My favorite is fishing in the flats off of mustang island, but there is so much pressure on the fish, it can be hard to get them to hit even while spot fishing. Need to get back in a boat.

This. It's really making trips a lot worse than in the past. Boat or no boat.
