2012 Z06 or 2012 GT-R?
So in about a week I'll have money for a new toy. I've been looking at a 2012 Z06 3LZ for a while, and I've been on the corvette forums a lot. But a lot of the guys there seem scared on the new GT-R. It's sort of made me look into it.
If I went with the Z06, I would be getting G-Force's stage III package. So I'd be looking at around 570-580rwhp depending on the choices.
If I went with the GT-R, I would pretty much just get full exhaust upgrades and a tune. I have no idea what I would be putting down.
I think I would seriously miss the power and sound of a V8 if I went with the GT-R, but the GT-R seems more modern and I wouldn't have the stigma of "old guys and corvettes". The GT-R also has the option of automatic or manual which would be nice in traffic.
I'm really torn between these two cars. If you had the option of picking one, which would it be?

Id have to drive both, but I think the two main points have been hit.
GTR has a cooler much more rare factor to me. Lot more car for the money, but maintenance I imagine will be a lot higher since its just a more complicated, techy car.
Corvette is simple in comparison, so less maintenance costs, and still awesome in its own right.
How much are you looking at for each? Same cost to buy?

Damn hard decision..... To awd Or not. Both are awesome track monsters... I'm not sure of what I would pick. What will you be doing with it? Drag or track? They would both do well either way...

Having owned several vettes ranging from 400hp-8xxhp. Then a GTR that we took from 400hp to 7xxhp.
The GTR's amount of technology makes the ZOnfeel like a Fred Flinstone mobile. While this is cool it does nothing for driving experience. My car felt identical at 400hp and 720hp.
IMO it depends on the goals for the vehicle. If I have an unlimited budget and want a competitive road race car I'd consider the GTR
For good old fashioned seat of your pants fun its very hard to beat a C6Z! Honestly if you are shopping for those I would also cindider a gen4 Viper and modded 2009-2012 CTS-V.

Having driven both i'd say GTR. Fun car no doubt and there's not mistaking it for another vette. Most people outside of the forums can hardly tell the difference between an base C6 and a ZR1.
GTR is a fun car and can seat more if absolutely needed. Once I get rid of my C6 I'll be getting a GTR or a CTSV.
