Default Need ALL advice and opinions on 2002 duramax 4x4 w/220k miles

Long strory short, I'm trading in the '12 f250 diesel for a new 5.0 m6 mustang base to drop my pmt a significant amount to qualify for more house (dti), I love my truck but love a nice house more. I will still be needing a decent truck to tow my toybox race trailer and for fun, so decided to sell or trade the 09 civic si (which is in brand new condition but had a rebuilt title). I don't need 2 cars I need a decent daily and a truck. This guy is offering me a lifted 02 Chevy crew cab short bed 4x4 duramax with programmer 18's on 33's exhaust etc str8 across for my si. The truck is clean and has no engine lights or signs of serious issues (clean title). I know 01-2005 1/2 had some issues with diesels, thinking very strong about moving forward please give me advice on what to look for and opinions on the 02 duramaxs thanks

Watch out for the injectors, if they go - it's $$$

That gen of Dmax is an LB7. They did have injector issues, but GM extended the warranty on those. With thise miles they have probably been replaced long ago. Replacement injectors are usually good for over 100k (some never need replacing again). I would find out when they were replaced last.

They are pretty solid trucks. With the lift, I would check the suspension components to make sure it was done right and there isn't excess wear on anything. Do you know the brand lift? 33 can be fit without lift, so I would assume there isn't too much.

The allison transmissions are solid as well. However, if it has had a programmer for a long time and it has been driven hard, that can cause problems.

Thanks guys, here's what I know. Injectors were replaced at 200k (has receipts) don't know brand of lift and it needs tires. It's a
Clean old truck but I don't know if it's really worth an even trade for my 32k mile perfect 09 si. Gonna have a bud look at it this weekend

There's plenty of nicer trucks on Craigslist.

Oh I'm sorry I'm not Mr. Fuckingdieselwizard. 6-7k for any truck with that many miles is still ridiculous.

I know the fickle used car market. If people are dumb enough to buy something with that many miles, they deserve to replace fuel pumps, accessory drives, rotted ball joints, and interior trim.

Probably going to just wait and keep my si and 250, just get less house. Thanks again fellas for advice. Truck is clean but not like my 2012. I'll make things work out.

I bought a '01 Duramax CCLB, 4X4, with 234k miles for $8,000, got the loan for $12,500 to consolidate some debt. I love it, i average 16.2 mpg with leaving it running about 90 minutes a week. I need to replace the injectors like stated above, but then i'll be set for another 100k+. So I think that you would be happy with a truck like that, but it is a big difference from your F250. Just a thought.

Diesel can not be compared to gas. They last twice as long and keep power much longer than gas. Thus they are worth much more $$$

Very well said. Car is a beauty and it's a shame it's a salvage/rebuilt bc it was never wrecked but non the less deemed a total loss making it not very desireable although its a beautiful car that's flawless.

with that many miles, i would imagine the injectors have been replaced AT LEAST once. PM me the VIN so i can look up the service history.
