i do agree if you own a avg 4th gen with around 100k miles your not going to get much. but if you have a low mileage car you can prob get some good money for it you just have to wait for the right person to come along, which could be an issue.
i just went on auto trader and did a nation wide search there are some prestine 01-02 for sale. avg price is about 20k though. but they have like 5-10k miles on them. there is one SOM with original CME on it, black leather, t-top's, m6. if had the money i would go pick it up for sure.

I think if I ever wanted another 4th gen I would try to find a cleanly modified one and go from there. But it would have to be really nice.
You Sorry Dog! I didn't know y'all had one those as well, that's awesome. All original car?
p.s I know by L98 car you mean a yellow 87 Formula 350

Holy ****- there was an all original yellow 87 Formula at the Pontiac /Oakland /GTOAA show this past weekend. If it was for sale I would have been selling some 4th gens!
The TTA is a 100% stock car- t tops, leather and 90k on it. Bought from original owner. Really clean and a blast to drive. We have too much crap- just picked up another project this weekend. Trading my WS6 formula vert for it.
Back on point- performance wise a tastefully modded 4th gen is hard to beat bang for the buck.

My buddy had an 86 T/A in High School, paid 300$ for it in '98. Car was FAR from perfect but it was actually really solid for what it was. I don't think you'll find deals like that any more, not for a complete running car anyway. My other buddy in High School had a medium blue metalic (maui blue) '89 Formula 350.

We paid 2000 for it in 2001, it was a outstanding running TBI 5.7 swap. I would best LT1 cars and once in a while a stock LS1 with a crap driver. Only needed new paint and had 76k on the odometer. She is ran 7.7 in the 1/8th at 91 mph with the 160k mile 5.3 she has now, 4l80 Trans that shifts fantastic at 200k miles. I have not even fine tuned the car. Still has a base line tune and I just threw it together for a spare ride after the wife wrecked her trailblazer.
My buddy had a 91 bird that ran well for a 305, and another had a 92 that was the same. But I always liked the 87-90 birds better. I do know where a 92 Z is for 3000, very straight body, running and driving with the hood blisters and F40 wing. But I have enough projects and I'm broke. Lol
I do want a 99-02 SS to drive daily, but I don't know if I'll ever have the desire to take the plunge with so many vehicles already.

I bought my highly optioned (SLP) 02 SS w/6,6xx miles in sept. of last year.
Still has plastic on the factory mats with the SLP mats still in a bag, one owner, etc.
Car was listed for 21,900 I obviously didnt pay that but I would have. It was one of my dream cars in highschool.
If a car is mint there will always be a buyer just have to wait.

What is up with it? I see a lot of nice F-Bodys that are easy 15k cars that are priced down near 11k & pretty sure could buy at 10k. There is a 6spd 408 Pewter car out of LA & he has it up for over 6 months. Not just F-bodys either. I noticed its most of the Sports Car market IE Mustangs & F-Bodys & other sports cars just are not selling even being priced super low. Are people really that broke these days?
I will say we where going over our cable Bill & we pay $126 a month for 4 boxes & just your standard cable package & we are really thinking about dropping cable cause its nothing but Re runs of TV shows I have seen 20 times plus. I think the cost of living in America today is really having a lot to do with the market. Its tough to save when your spending $200+ at the grocery store & spending $100 a week on fuel along with paying insurance & and Cell Phones & Cable & Electric & buy Groceries, Not counting Mortgage payment & Car Payments if you have a car payment. All our cars are paid off. But we are thinking about just getting a landline & paying for pay as you go phone and just using the text feature that is free on Pay as you go phones. We pay $180 a month for our 2 cell phones & combine that with Cable & your paying $300+ a month for two things in life that are not a must have. Hell that's almost $4000 savings a year. You can almost buy a decent F-Body in todays market at $6500 by just going to pay as I go phone & dropping the cable.
But my main point of this thread is why are good priced cars not selling these days

the newest Fbody is still 11 years old. No bank will lend out money on that. So the market is now for those who mainly have cash. "most" people who have 10-15k liquid don't want to buy an 11-15 yr old car. which is why you have threads like this guys

Not at all, I think I did earlier in the post. 2002 WS6, 31,000 miles. I bought the car for $16,800 and then borrowed the extra money to help out with the sales tax and registration fees. Didn't have to take a dollar out of my pocket until my first payment the following month. I also got a 6% rate, which is pretty good for a used car regardless of the year IMO. Dont expect Chase or something to talk to you about an older car, but there are companies out there that specialize in this, or you can join a local credit union like I did. They made everything a breeze.

I picked up a 2000 T/A WS6 with 538 miles on it from the original owner last month. Its a 6-speed black on black car with pretty much every available option. All documentation, original tires, T-Top shades still in the bags, pretty much a time capsule. He kept it in a heated garage and drove it once or twice a year around the block. Down falls, car hadnt been driven in 3 years due to his health issues (reason he was selling it), rotors had bad high spots on them from the pads, tires had flat spots and the car had never been waxed or have a cover on it so the paint needed to be clayed, rubbed, polished and then waxed. He originally had it advertised for $24K. I went down an looked at the car multiple times, I loved the car but kept knit picking what was "wrong" with the car and he wasnt getting any other bites on the car. He paid $34,500 out the door tax license and title back in 2000, I paid him almost exactly half of that the day I drove it home. Cash was my friend, you could see his eyes light up when I threw that big stack of $100 bills on his kitchen table.
