If everything is maintained then no, a tune will not go bad over time.
When someone says, "My tune is bad now or not as good as when it was first tuned" that usually means something else has gone bad such as:
-bad spark plugs
-vacuum leaks
-mechanical parts wearing down
-injectors are out of spec
-weak fuel pump
Tunes are not a wear item and they do not breakdown over time. Tunes are pre-set parameters that control many sensor that are used in concert to control your engine and transmission.
Here's a real word example for ya:
I friend brought me his truck that was tuned by a popular truck tuner shop and said his tune was garbage and the transmission was not shifting like it once was. Long story short he still had the stock plugs that were beyond fcuked and the transmission needed a rebuild after too many races.
Anyways he was quick to tell me that tuner guy sucked when in the end his neglect on my truck was the cause of of AKA bad tune.
