Usually you end up spending the same money looking for a "fair" price and your **** ain't right. If you are going stock, there are several places that have them ready to go and you just turn in your core. They aren't sponsors though so I can't type there name. If you are going forged, there are several that are sponsors on here. Just look in the vendor section and search there name for reviews.

You're going to pay more than you want to from the sounds of it. Just buy a replacement

Houston Engine & Balancing rebuilt my motor 10 years ago and it's still running like a champ, and they'll rebuild any bad motors I have in the future.

Checked prices 10 years ago? I remember it was like 180 for me to get a engine block done through and through, ready to build. Don't even want to know what it cost now.

Dont care. I'd rather have a fresh motor I know is gonna work right than waste time going to the junkyard hoping that the motor I pick out and haul home is gonna be good. For instance, on my truck, I sold it to some gal that destroyed the motor and they had to go pick up and tear down 3 junkyard motors till they found a good one, that already had 100k on it. No thank you!

Lol I had a junk yard lq4 that had at least 100k on it I used it for a while then pulled my heads and stuff off and sold the short block. The guy that bought the short block spayed the crap out of it for at least another two years until he exploded the intake on it then swapped intake and went after it again.
Same thing with the junk yard ls1 I had in my green coupe I ran it pretty hard for about a year and then sold it to another member on here and he sprayed the guts out of it for two years until he melted a piston.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend a single shop in houston. I do however know quite a few individuals that are more than up to the task on the south side. Shoot me a PM if you want some numbers.

I decided to Google those guys at Houston engine builders or whatever they called. They prices are too high!!
I had simply asked how much is it to freshen up a 6.0 I got out the junkyard that runs good..... they responded back saying 1200 bucks average!!
By time you buy a 6.0 out the local salvage yard and have them install new rings/bearings I can go to Thompson motorsports and order a (shortblock) new 370ci for $1999.99!! Something to think about for sure as I plan on doing a motor down the road to power a old C10 for towing far distances......

About $1200 seems about right for a stock rebuild.
