Sprint cell coverage in Texas
Who has Sprint in Texas? Especially in the East Texas, Tyler, area? We were wondering about the coverage. Currently my wife and I have Verizon and the bill is ridiculous! We have unlimited talk (which we don't care about), unlimited text, and 2GB of data each and it's almost $200 a month. I see where Sprint will cut your bill in half and they have a deal now where they will buy our phones as well as buy us out of Verizon. I just want to make sure that we'll be able to text, talk on the phone when we do need to, and have GPS etc. when we travel or race. I've done a ton of research and the knock on them is their coverage and download speed.
Any first hand experience?
Thanks.

Yeah, I have Sprint and when I'm in San Antonio the service is terrible. However, I live in Northwest Houston and it is super fast and reliable here. I have LTE everywhere here.

Hey man I work for a cell company that sub for all the major carriers don't get sprint. We have a couple guys that still have just Cuz they're in a contract but their service sucks and we travel everywhere. Att or Verizon are the best coverage period I have 1 of each of the phones and they're the best.

Same here... My work phone is AT&T and I always compare bars with my personal Sprint phone. AT&T sucks.

Sprint would have to pay me to use the crap service they provide. We have to use Sprint at work and I couldn't tell you how long i have to walk around holding the phone up to find a signal. This is in the middle of Dallas near 3 different sprint towers.

They have to have something that brings them customers. Damm sure isnt the service. I used sprint for a long time but never again. My AT&T has unlimited talk and text and 3gig data. I never use up all the data. Not even close. And its cheaper than Srpints unlimited plan. Plus the big thing for me which is good coverage.

Yup....If you have to ask, you know it's shitty (compared to top tier), so why even bother? I have at&t, works 99% of the time but I've had Reps from all carriers run test all throughout the city I work for, Fire and Police survive off mobile networks. This isn't based on customer service or pricing just signal and quality of service alone.
#1 Verizon hands down.
#2 At&t
#3 Tmobile
#4,5,6,7 All Debatable between sprint, metro and cricket, boost etc.

I live in North Fort Worth and travel down to Granbury and up to Decatur a lot and I have the occasional problems but in general I'm not inconvenienced very much. I still complain about the high bill I have with Sprint but I don't think they are any worse than other carriers, just not any better either.

Thanks guys for all the comments. Sounds like we should stay with Verizon for the time being and maybe stay away from Sprint. Our contract renewal is in January and perhaps we'll investigate AT&T then. I just get upset when I see all these great deals Verizon gives to new customers with tons of data for less than we pay per month and we've been with them forever. They offer awesome packages to entice new customers but screw existing folks once they have you.

I think sprint is better in the city
Definitely Worse out of city limits
Data is hit or miss, sometimes great sometimes nothing
I have wifi most places, and the money I save is worth it
