Default Anyone here surf?...pics of some recent Texas surf.

I used to surf a lot when I was in high school. I recently bought another board and found some time to go surfing a few times last month. I went 2 Saturdays ago (Nov. 27th). Here's some pics from that day. I did not take these. They were taken at Surfside Beach...where I was at.
And they say there ain't no surf in Texas. (They're right 85% of the time. )

Those waves look good for Texas. I can't swim though. I would probably just chill on the beach BBQing and drinking beer.

I was pretty amazed. I hadn't surfed in a few years, and I was riding a new board, but it was like riding a bike. I just paddled out, paddled into a wave, and everything went well. It was like I had never stopped surfing. I guess those were ideal conditions though.

Those are good for Texas, I have a couple friends in Galveston that pray for hurricanes to stir up some good surf.

The waves in Galveston, well there arent waves in Galveston! Ive lived down here 3 1/2 years, and there have been several times that they have been huge, but its normally when there is a hurrican or depression in the gulf. I have caught some 4-6 foot waves down here, but they are really har d to find.

The best place i found to surf on the island is over at bermuda beach, it has really developed sand bars so the waves break bigger and cleaner.

Nice pics by the way.

Ross- I have no doughts that I could pick it right back up I just don't have any friends that are into that. They all moved to Cali or something like that. LOL! What kind of board did you buy? I was down in Freeport when Hurricane Gilbert came through it was HUGE and fun! December is one of the best months Jason! All the cold fronts cause us to have better surf more often. Are you in a spring suit or a full suit?

The water wasn't that cold.(70°) I wasn't even wearing a wetsuit.
I bought a 9'-0" Martin. It's a basic longboard (nose rider) design.

The pics were taken at Surfside Beach (Freeport). I'm not sure who took the pics. They were posted over at www.surfhousesurfcam.com
