Default Springs + 315s = ??

i've heard a couple bad things about having lowering springs in addition to 315s - something about the tires rubbing the fender so you have to file (?) the fender?

I was just wondering how much (if you can at all) lower it AND have 315s without fender rub?

Thanks,
Amber

It also depends on the offset of the rims. My car was lowered with a Pro-Kit and 315's and I just trimmed the bumpstop and hammered in the fender a little. I don't even think it was necessary.

my T/A is lowered with 315's. I do experience a little rub when I take a hard corner but otherwise no rubbing.

I have the pro kit and 315 Nittos. Mine rubs over the smallest bump. We tried rolling the fenders a little, but it didn't completely solve the problem. I am sure it has alot to do with the offset of the Smoothie II's.

you can get away with putting a nitto 315 on a 9.5 inch rim due to it not being a true 315mm tire set the nitto 315 next to a bfg g-force 315. and youll see that the bfg is about 2 inches wider. try putting that on a 9.5 inch wheel.

i had 315's on my stock firehawk rims (17x9) not 9.5" and it rubbed a lot, so i took them off and put 275's..... it has a lot to do with the offset of the rim..... i have two friends that have torque thrusts, and both have 315's on them (17x11 rims) One of their cars tires rubs and the other doesnt.... they are both 2001 SS'

Mine rubbed alot. I have pro-kit, ZR1s 17x11s(315s) w/50mm offset(i believe). I banged in the fender well and bought an adjustable panhard bar.(badz components) It now only rubs with a full tank and two grown men. It only did it on the left side. I fixed it. now i love it.

great input guys..thanks..I love the look of the pro-kit with 315s..makes it look mean. I'm getting my tires and wheels put on Thursday..so the next thing I want to do is lower it.

i've also heard that lowering a car requires LCA relocation brackets as well as a new PHB to keep the rear end stable..is this necessary?

Thanks again,
Amber

You would want an adjustable PHB so that you could center the rearend so that the tires on either side were equal

Shouldn't be that much of a problem but it does depend on the offset of the wheels. I have friends with 315's that rub on stock ride height.

LCA relocs and PHB aren't a real must have but are def a good buy. If you have the money I'd go ahead and pick em up.

Car is def gonna look hot with the black ZR1's with 315's and lowered. I know I love mine.

Well, You will most likely need the APHB to keep from rubbing. But you dont NEED the relocator brackets. It will help your launch out alot more. Let me know if you need help installing the springs or looking for someone to do it cheap.
