Default anyone else get the new hot rod?

It has a pretty good article on mods for an ls2. Too bad their heads made less torque than the stock heads, and only 7 more horsepower.
The part of the article about the cam selection for the ls2 was interesting though. Has anyone used a cam like their cts-v project car. specs are 226/226 at .050 and .585 lift with 1.85 rockers, and a 116 lsa. It made 499hp with no tune. oh yeah and i had no idea john force's daughter was hot. And it turns out the ls2 intake is not as good as the ls6 intake by about 8 hp and 16lb-ft even with the 90mm throttle body.

499? With what else done to it? Is that crank HP?

yeah it was crank hp. As far as i know katech headers, katech heads, katech cam, ls6 intake and 1.85 rocker arms.

Dont believe everything you read we picked up 12 hp by swapping a ls6 w/ a ls2 90 on a cam only vette

yea also the dyno #'s were figured out to 499 if in a vechical. and yea ash force is cute.

There is so much more to that motor and the little stuff Katech did. The heads didn't flow anything spectaculor and with a more agressive setup the ls2 will be a monster. The cam that is in it is a baby, I look forward to seeing some local shops getting there hands on some and getting some mad numbers out of them.

I would like to see the test procedures on that one. You are telling me, you did nothing but put a LS2 intake where a LS6 was and picked up 12 hp and no loss in torque? I just don't believe it.
Nwmembr19 - If you read the article, the heads were not the same size as the standard heads, so the lower compression ratio was what effected the power. If you think about the power gains, you have to consider that this is all done on a very small camshaft. I bet if they did an A-B with a more powerful engine, they would pick up even more power.
coolguy - I am not really even sure what you are saying??
I think you guys are right in that it is a tiny cam in todays world, but hey, it is pretty cool to see what can be bone with a small cam in an LS2.
How about those small cams, I bet they would be great for lgoing light to light without having to change gears.
Oh yeah, one more thing, I was cruzing through ebay and noticed that Katech had a lot of stuff on there for sale. It looks like they have some of there stuff up for bidding. Hum, looks like I might be buying a tensioner .
