Default FS: jet boat...Houston

Okay........this thing looks great behind any truck. This has been my pride and joy for the last few years and I have spent plenty of $$$$$$ on this ride. Now due to a change in life.....(baby on the way) I need to redirect my focus. This boat is cherry and doesn't need a thing.....except a new owner.

Here are the specs:
1976 Omega- 19' bubble deck jet (seats 5 comfortably)
472 ci Big Block Ford (~475 hp)
Hydraulic flat tappet cam....don't remember the specs, but let's just say it has an aggressive idle at 1,000 rpm. Can't beat the sound of a big block.
Mildly ported heads (clean up on the exhaust side)
Bassett racing headers (jet hot coated)
Unilite dist with MSD ignition
New accel plug wires
Holley 750 double pumper
Holley blue fuel pump (electric)
remote oil filter mount with dual GM high capacity filters
chrome plated ski tow
optima red top battery

Now onto the jet drive.
Jacuzzi yj jet pump with a stainless impeller and a stainless wear ring.
Hydraulic trim diverter (very rare factory installed option)

New upholstery (2004) custom matched to boat. All marine grade vinyl with new wood. New floor and new carpet.

Included also is a ski tube (air force)
anchors
boat cover
ski rope
rope for the tube
2 adult sun & ski sports ski jackets (one xl and one small)
4 orange life jackets
1 throwable flotation (required by law)
whistle (also required)
fire extinguisher (required)
slip in mufflers for the headers (recommended to prevent hearing loss)
naugahide covers for the headers.
basically everything I have now.
This is a complete package.....all you need is gas.
WARNING: this big block is thirsty....lol

This boat is also featured in the July issue of Hot Boat magazine. It was used for a bikini photo shoot for McQueeney Bikini co. I have several digital pictures of proffesional models on this boat that will be included. I will also throw in a copy of hot boat with the boat in it (as soon as they hit the newstand)

Now I know what everyone is asking......how fast is it???? While it is not equipped with a speedometer......let's just say it is fast enough to make your eyes water and your cheeks flap. There are very few boats on the water that will outrun it. It is fast enough.

I live in the Houston area and the boat is available for inspection. No tire kickers or joy riders please. Please if you do not have the cash.....secure your financing before contacting me. The tags are current on the trailer and the boat. The title is clear and in my name. All you need is gas.

The boat sure would look good behind your new truck.......you could always buy it and sell it for half later like you do everything else......

okay the basics of jet boats. rather than having a prop out the back or underneath a jet boat uses a pump......a big pump. it produces somewhere in the neighborhood of 5,000 gpm (gallons per minute) necked down to a 3" discharge nozzle, by moving this much water you produce thrust......same concept as a jetski just much larger parts. This also provides a safety plus....there are no moving parts outside the boat for anyone to get cut on.

Now the cooling. seeing how the pump is moving 5,000 gpm already it simply has a tap on the bowl of the pump supplying the engine with fresh cool lake water. it circulates through a blockoff plate where the water pump would normally go and out the intake just like normal. From there some of the water is injected into those pricey headers to help keep them shiny and new and the rest is discharged out the back of the boat. As long as the boat is moving forward the engine is getting cooled. This boat runs approx 160^ all the time no matter how hot it gets.

The simplicity of the design makes it wonderful. A rebuild kit for the jetpump will run you in the neighborhood of $175-200. It has one bearing on the front with a mechanical seal.....a shaft.....an impeller/wear ring......and a bushing on the rear of the shaft. Only one moving part.

to be honest with you I don't know. I have never GPS'd it. I know everyone tries to sell a hot boat as a 100+ mph boat. I am no liar. In all reality I would guess the top speed is somewhere in the neighborhood of 65mph. It could be more. I have been a true 100+ mph on water and it isn't my cup of tea. a true 65 mph is hauling the mail.

This boat is plenty fast for the lakes around here. I could probably count the number of times I have actually topped it out on 2 hands. Water conditions have to be real good for me to take a chance. You are covering alot of water fast at anything over 55 mph and the risk of a stray roller can be dangerous. With a relatively flat v this thing needs relatively smooth water to run fast. This boat is not good for big lakes with big boats. Most of the time it is on Somerville or at the San Jac river. It is at home there.

This boat also makes a great ski boat. It planes with the blip of a throttle. I have pulled 3 skiiers up no problem on more than one occasion. The tube is a blast behind this thing too. It turns like a jetski.

Canyon Lake.....this boat has been to many lakes around Texas. It draws large amounts of attention at every one. I will have the boat at Lake Somerville this weekend. I might even get some sound clips and video clips of the boat for you guys.

This boat stands out on the water. Come on the season is still early. I know someone needs a toy to haul behind their truck.
