GMS Pricing on C6 Corvette
GMS Pricing on C6 Corvette I've been thinking about buying a new C6, but the price is standing in the way for the car I want. My friend's mother works for GM and I had previously got a so-called "Friends and Family" certificate for a 2004 GMC Envoy where it would have only cost $29K (sticker was $41,500). I didn't get the Envoy (wife didn't like the way it handled during an emergency lane change on the 610!). We bought a BMW X5 4.4 instead. Much more stable.
Anyway, I'm confused on the employee pricing on Corvettes. On the DigitalCorvettes web board, there was a lively thread about whether Corvettes get the discount, who's eligible, if dealers would even give the discount, etc.
What I need to know is: 1. Can I get the certificate like I did before on the Envoy? 2. Is the dealer "required" to honor the certificate and price (doesn't GM reimburse them for employee discounts?)? 3. When does the discount apply?

I used to sell chevy's. No dealership will give you much of a discount on a vette if any at all. The dealership is also not required to honor anything. Ever hear the commercial for Landmark that says we will beat any deal by atleast $1000 or we will give you a free corvette. Well, no matter what crazy number they have to beat, they simply beat it on paper and then refuse business because they reserve the right to not sell you the car. You want the best deal on a vette, go to kerbeck. http://www.kerbeck.com/ You wont find a better deal than them.

I've never seen a discount program other than the actual GM employee discount program (GMS/GMO) that extends to Corvettes, however if you find one that applies, a C6 coupe will range from $39-48k GMS pricing. The $39k would be a 1SX with no options, but dealers almost never spec them out like that. A 1SA will be about $44, but I've only seen a couple 1SA's in Texas and they were at Bill Heard (don't go anywhere near that dealership). The majority of the Corvettes in dealer stock are 1SB's that range from $46-48 depending on the options.
That being said, the dealers do not have to honor GMS pricing. The last sales manager that I talked to was at Mac Haik (they are one of the better dealers in Houston)-- he told me that he would order me a vette at GMO pricing and would give me GMS on a convertible that had been on the lot for a while, but not on coupes with the Z51 option as they are still in short supply.

There's no GMS price on the C6 Vette period.....and probably won't be for a very long time. I remember it was like 4 years or so before they finally allowed GMS pricing on the C5....
