I will be moving to Lubbock in August to go to school at Texas Tech. The only thing I am concerned about is that all of the gas stations that I have seen there are FINA's and they only 90 octane premium, my question is are there any gas stations there with 93 octane?Or does anyone live there and run 90 octane without any problems? I just want to know before I get up there. Thanks
James

Hey buddy i feel your pain, if i go back this semester it would be my third year. The best gas you can get is at Seven-Eleven, which is 92 octane. Good luck in school.

there is also a fina on 82nd and frankford that has 92. Whenever u get to lubbock, i have a buddy who can get 100 low-lead, for about 3.00-3.50 a gallon if u wanted that.
just PM me on here, or on www.racelubbock.com , might register over there anyways, if ur gonna live here.
PS - i've had a few friends who got some bad fuel at that citgo, just fyi.

On Tuesdays every 7/11-Fina has the 92 octane on sale for the same price as the mid level grade. I only fill up on Tuesdays and have zero probs with their gas.

Not get your car ready for the dust storms. My car looks like I drove it on the beach after one of these Dust storms, dust all under the hood and in my car. Good luck

Lubbock is considered "high altitude", so you don't need as high of octane value (air density thing). If you wander in to New Mexico, you'll find that the highest some stores carry is 88 or 89. Don't sweat the octane rating, IMO. The rule is, run the lowest octane gas that you can that does not cause detonation or knock (need a scan tool to watch for it tho). Running higher octane than your motor needs can actually take away power...
