in Arlington they send an officer out to your car real quick and if he verifies then you just pay the court cost

Anybody know the inside scoop on this. I am also very curious if the front LP is no longer required.

Law still says 2 are required:

§ 502.404. OPERATION OF VEHICLE WITHOUT LICENSE PLATE OR
REGISTRATION INSIGNIA. (a) A person commits an offense if the
person operates on a public highway during a registration period a
passenger car or commercial motor vehicle that does not display two
license plates, at the front and rear of the vehicle, that have
been:
(1) assigned by the department for the period; or
(2) validated by a registration insignia issued by the
department that establishes that the vehicle is registered for the
period.

I have been ticketed twice for speeding. Each time was less than 5 miles over the speed limit. Both times I did not have a front plate and nothing was said. This was in the Fort Worth area. It probably depends on who pulls you over and what their mood is for the day.

It has been my experience over the course of my career that the "no front plate" ticket is usually used as a reason to stop a car. Its not really enforced but if I wanted to stop a car and they had no front plate I would use it and then cite the driver to cover my ***.

Its mostly just a harassment tactic or a stat builder for the "stat" driven departments out there.
