Well Im a Stros fan for life, as well. I think we had the badest season ever in history and it can only get better next year. We will be back in the playoffs and come knocking again this time I hope we knock the door down. The only thing that Im worried about is did Albert Pujols damage Brad Lidge mentally? Its kinda an up and down question? Some say yes some say no. I personally think he did, Brad hasnt ever been the same up there. Hopefully he puts that in the trash bin and comes out next season as we all new him during the regular season "Lights Out" Lidge. I just wanted 1 win thats all. Hats off to Brandon Backe hell of a game he pitched. Congrats to the White Sox they only lost 1 game very impressed. Go Stros!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lidge wasn't pitching bad, the Sox were just hitting good. The only lame duck pitch he really threw was to Podsednik when he cranked that homer. Pujols can hit almost anything

But you have to think that Lidge was not used to giving up many hits like he did. I think a blown save in the regular season, would of been alright but this was to close the Cardinals out at home. You kinda have to think he is like what the fu*k everybody is hitting me. Dont you think? I know I would. But oh well its over and Im still a fan so Im left wanting a win at home. Thats all.
yes, but the Cards and Sox were in the playoffs for a reason, so it would be expected that they would get more hits off of our closer. We also got two runs off of Jenks, the Sox closer.
The Sox were just a better team. They had pitching to match ours, but they had better bats. It was frustrating to see our guys stranded on base with no RBI's happening.
But, the Astros kicked *** this season, no complaints there!

It was a helluva ride, and I'm just sad that we don't have any more baseball to look forward to until May.
Speaking of looking forward, I'm pretty optimistic about our chances next year too. Hopefully, we won't have as rough a start and we can compete with the Cards for the NLC title. Here's what I see for next year:
C - Ausmus/Chavez. Don't mess with success. Maybe bring the new guy from AAA up for a longer look.
1B - Berkman/Lamb platoon.
I hope Bagwell retires. I love the guy's heart, but it hurts to watch him any more. If the shoulder is REALLY healed, I'll be happy to see him back. If not, bow out gracefully and preserve your ticket to Cooperstown.
2B - Biggio/Bruntlett. Bruntlett needs some more AB's.
3B - Ensberg/Lamb. I love Lamb's bat, and getting him into the lineup on a regular basis would be a huge boost.
SS - Everett/Vizcaino. Everett showed some weakness defensively this year. If he can get that turned around and MAYBE get some more hits, it will be huge.
OF - Taveras/Lane/Burke/Berkman (if Bagwell returns). Burke showed he has no fear, Taveras needs to work on hitting something other than bunt singles, Lane has shown that the more AB's he gets, the better he gets.
P - Petitte, Oswalt, Backe, Rodriguez, Hernandez, Astacio. I know Astacio gave up the HR and a walk, but he's young. If Hernandez ever gets healthy, we could use another good lefty. Rodriguez is nothing special, but a serviceable 4th starter. I think Clemens retires, which is sad, but if you think about it, he pitched brilliantly throughout the year and we STILL lost many of his starts. If Drayton doesn't give Oswalt what he wants in his contract, he's out of his mind.
Bullpen - Lidge, Wheeler, Qualls, Gallo, and situational pitchers. I still think Lidge is our closer. He has been mortal lately, but I think he's just tired. Maybe Wheeler picks up a few more saves throughout the year and we save Lidge for the stretch run.
I'd love to see us pick up another bat. Maybe we trade Lamb and/or Lane for another outfielder with some pop. Or maybe one or both of those guys develop into even better hitters.
This team has proven we can win. A few tweaks to the lineup and a better start to the season, and we'll be in it again next year.
