I certainly hope they do.... because if there's any gap, the whole US is gonna make post-Katrina New Orleans look like a friendly, lawful get together.

I have faith in scientific advancement. Then again the hole in the ozone layer will probably vaporize us all before a shortage ever happens. Either that or we'll get plowed into by a comet.

www.env-econ.net/2005/07/new_incentives_.html

I think the nuclear power plant business is about to pick up ...

www.ap1000.westinghousenuclear.com/

It's a modular plant, built in controlled conditions and under uniform guidelines. No more "1 off" plants.

It's pre-approved and pre-licensed.

And look at all the passive safety features built in. It requires little to no operator action to maintian the health and safety of the public and environment. It is truly a technology advancement.

LMFAO!!! Mike you would see the same side as me. I don't really think that it will be as bad as they are describing in that article, but some things are going to have to change for sure and I am also under the impression that they are sticking it to us at the gas pump without any lube! I work at Exxonmobil and while I maynot have any direct knowledge of this I have herd the rumors floating around and it sucks for the consumers like us. what can we do? Nothing just take it like a man!

I would really like to think that some of the big oil companies are taking some of their capital and putting into deepwater exploration, but that's really only a band-aid for the problem. I get the feeling that some companies are maximizing profits now, because they know they won't have oil to use to drive profits any more at some point, and they're using scare tactics as leverage to drive up prices to the consumer. It's a bit "conspiracy theorist", but every time I pay $2.70 for a gallon of 87 octane, I can't help but think about headlines like "record-breaking profits for the quarter".

But, what the hell do I know? I'm a server monkey.

We haven't even tapped most of the world's natural resources. There will always be scientific advancement to compensate for whatever hurdles mankind faces. The thing is that we won't see these advances until it's economically viable for them to come of age. Right now it's too cheap to keep using coal and oil for power, once it's cheaper to use fusion power we'll switch over to that. In the mean time we are pushing for advancements in hydrogen and methanol fuel cell technology. There is more hydrogen on the planet than oil, it's just a matter of packaging and delivery.

that doesnt really scare me. there are enough smart peopel who have known about that a lot longer than i have who are making big advancements in hydrogen power, soy based stuff and renewable resources. ill recycle my used motoroil and do what i should, but there are enough people working to solve this problem who have known about it much longer than we have.

So when are they going to start putting in stations with E85. GM is talking about in the next two years all their cars will be flex fuel, and able to run on E85. Hell, this stuff is 104 octane, and burns cleaner, but there is no where in Houston where you can buy it. In fact I think the 07 Tahoes can use it.

I can't wait! I'll get to run more boost on my new "pump gas", and you NA guys will run cooler. Gas mileage will take a small hit (no more than 5%), but I could care less. Our dependency on eastern oil will decrease as well .

CNN was reporting that this is suppose to be our last big gas price season. Now I will believe it when I see it, but the petro analyst where saying by next year Ethanol production will be at near 100 %. But like I said I will believe it when I see it.

What sort of conversions would we need to retrofit our cars to run ethanol? I'm thinking new fuel lines, tank, filter, etc., but is there anything else?

gas is the least of our worries. People still pay more for bottled water almost.

Gas is about 30 to 45 cents gallon. The rest is taxes that we have to pay and it results in the high prices.

We should try and Help Canada with the Oil sand fields to make them more cost productive and easier to manufacture, there is more oil in Canada then in Saudi, just takes alot to get the oil out of the dirt.
