What's Up with Mega Horsepower Supra's?
My buddy and I went riding this past Saturday on our bikes. I have a Honda VFR and he has a 'Busa. We were approached by this dude driving a 1997 Toyota Supra. It was a black Limited with all the goodies - bigass turbo, intercooler, fuel programmer, etc. Supposedly dyno'd at 850 horse and that's without the nitrous yet. It certainly sounded mean. Anyway, a bunch of us all headed out to race - GSX-R 1000's, R1's, etc. Well, this thing "walked the walk" and had us all beat. My buddy on the 'Busa never had a real chance to race, but it wouldn't have mattered; the Supra had him covered.
Anyway, we stopped to shoot the **** for a while. The guy's cool, told us what all he had done, etc. The part that I'm shocked about is that the transmission and rear end are completely stock. Are Toyota drivelines that bulletproof? Why can they throw 800, 900, 1000 horse at a stock tranny and rear without having problems? Is it not true? Even Nineball had his C6 differential crack and that was at maybe 520 horse?
Just curious about the Supra. I have always appreciated them. Only race a couple and beat them all, but I know some have some serious *****.

I am surprised Duy hasn't chimed in on this about the Supra's....
They are deadly fast from the roll! I wouldn't want to touch one there! I've been in a 382 all bore LS1 and we literally got walked all over by SW's black Supra....I was laughing my *** off...I had to ask the driver of the LS1 if he had the floor mat stuck under the accelerator or something...
Props to them! Twin Turbo Vipers are sick like them too....
