I was gonna say the same thing. A cam is what $400.00 so that's $2,000.00 for a cam install on an F body?

Thats the way LG rolls You dont see them at the track(dragstrip) though They have the Corvette Forum members wrapped around their fingers... Not to take away from their work though, they do very good work and get good results it just costs more...

just curious... but why is it more expensive for the f-body? Generally the corvette is more expensive since the steering rack needs to be dropped.

Anthony.. you'd do beter to stay on the Corvette forum,Z06.net...
There are too many other speed shops out there doing these installs/packages @ a fraction of the cost...

LGM does great work no doubt... But i don't think many guys over here wish to throw that kind of $$ away for the "LG" name...

just my .02

Thats right, but you forgot valve springs, pushrods, Ti retainers, spring seats, pully bolt, gaskets, fluids, shop consumables and a baseline dyno.

We charge a fair price for what we do. Is it unreasonable? No.

You dont have to get a cam installed here, I thought I would have Anthony post here as well.

Count how many shops have come and gone over the last 10 years. We have had our doors open since 1988. You do the math.

Thanks

Louis

Any of the gold spring kits will hold up to a G5X4 all day long ($260), pushrods ($100), gaskets, consumables, etc ($150), baseline dyno ($50)

Lets just call the above total $600............or $800 if you want higher priced springs. If you guys can get that for a cam install, more power to you, I just dont see many F-Body guys paying that kinda price.

Sponsors can pretty much charge whatever they want. Nobody really has to buy from any particular one sponsor. Yes...Shops come and go everyday with such a saturated market on these LS1/2 parts. Basically, the shops with deeper pockets and the ones that have a particular niche will survive until GM releases new products to modify.

Just my $0.02...

I personally think that the internet has hurt the Automotive Performance Industry Facilities because it has created much smaller profit margins for parts and installs due to saturation. On the other hand, the consumer has the choice now to either spend 500.00 on a cam install or 3000.00 on the same install.... Now having this said and keeping quality, reliability and experiance in mind, which one would you choose?

Its pretty simple. To most of the crowd around this forum, charging more than $25/hr is highway robbery - God forbid you try to make a profit.

I'm the biggest proponent of doing things yourself so that they're done right and for the right price, but some people don't have the time to spend online comparing install prices and who's who. These people want to dop their car off and go pick it up finished from a shop that they feel comfortable with. Rule of marketing: When you don't know that much about a product, you associate cost with quality .

I'll be honest.. .you go to Pedro de los Palotes Garage shop and drop your shiny C5 or your beloved camaro.. He does the install in his backyard... ALl well... the car sounds nice.. he goes and tests the car and BAAMMMM a car accident.. he then comes.. man I am so sorry.... here is the car you owe me nothing...

That sort of SECURITY and Waranty costs MONEY!!!!!!! Owning a shop its not easy... such an install can cost you more or less $1200 on a reputable shop that can offer you a waranty on the service....
