I may be about to lose my money.
Hey guys, this is not meant to be a "what if" thread but I have a major grudge race with an 04 GTO. The mods on the goat are longtubes, full exhaust, small cam, and "some head work". The car is a 6 speed and has failed to impress me yet and with an arrogant driver, I took the challenge. Here is the deal, this guy thinks this car hauls *** and talks it up big. It is full weight and he weighs at least 300lbs. We are both from small towns adjacent to each other and his town is basically backing him and my few friends say I will win......so we have a bet going for next sat. night. Do I need to find something major to do this week to stand a chance? My mods are in sig.

We did an 04 with a MS3, kooks headers, y-pipe, stock cat-back...everything else stock. It made 380...runs 8.5's on stock tires. It is dog *** slow. I was suprised to see that much power. I don't think you have much to worry about it if he is telling the truth.

I sure hope I take him. I know for a fact those are the only mods he has. He is also on stock rims with a nitto dr out back. The car is full weight. Should I run him on the track or street? Oh yeah, Shinerbock, I would love some deeper gear but driving 500 miles a week would catch up with me real quick on fuel costs bc I get 24mpg now.

Hell auto with a stall youll get him by 2-3 cars. Get him from a dig. You did 8.1s that is bad ***. Just make sure you clean your car good and take out any extra weight like the rear seats and any extra crap that you dont need. Dont full up all the way lower the tire pressure and you should do just fine. Onces make onces make pounds. I would bet on you. Make sure you post vid of the kill.

Brady, I don't think you have a thing to worry about. Your ET drag radials and your converter ought to let you eat him alive off the line and he will have to play catch up all the way to the end which I don't think you would have to worry about anyways. My money is on you. Bring him to Wichita to race and we could both make some money off this clown.

Ive never raced a gto, but I would say if he has a cam and "some heads" it might be quick. Since you are a stalled auto you should def. take the beginning, but then he might catch up, I dont know.
Id say it would be a close race
a little nitrous FTW

With the race being your stalled auto, against a heavy goat....Id put 100 bucks on you car in a heartbeat. Especially if you race best of 3. Its hard for a 6 speed to win from a dig vs a stalled auto...especially when hes not making all that much more power and is handicapped by his fat ***.

First off, I am undoubtedly going to film this race. Another friend of his is now supposed to drive the car and I think he actually weighs more but is supposed to be "a badass driver". He is now being ultra mouthy about the situation and says the goat is undoubtedly going to win so I am going to try to get him to a track instead of the street so I can invite all my fellow Ls1techers to come see this race. Also, have some more breaking new info: A mutual friend of ours called me and told me the guy actually knows nothing about his car Ex. cam size, head work? He bought it from a Carmax with straight exhaust and the catalytic converters in the trunk. I am only going to race him one time bc with a driver new to the car I have really high hopes of him spinning or misshifting.

ah haha, the typical **** talking from someone that has no clue whats in their car.
don't sweat it, but borrow a simple dry shot from a friend just for added insurance.

Call him on being a ***** for not racing you and having a buddy do it. Race him with him in the car and if it's ugly (you winning by alot), then say double or nothing with his friend driving. Worst case you go home having beat him with him driving or best case you go home with twice as much as you had expected. I think you have nothing to worry about.
