Owned a Powerstroke tonight with my LBZ Duramax!
A friend of mine stopped by this evening with his friend and his Ford F-250. Asked me if I wanted to race, so I said sure. Didn't have anything better to do, so found an open road and lined 'em up.
My '06 LBZ Duramax crew cab vs. '06 F-250 crew cab. I've got a 4" MBRP exhaust with cat and muffler delete, Predator set on 120hp, Transgo Jr., and a Fingerstick/EGR blocker plate. (Fingerstick just fools the computer to think that the EGR is working properly for the blocker plate) He had a Bully Dog Tripled Dog on the highest setting, whatever that is. Not sure what else he had if anything because it was dark.
Ok...so I spool it up, my friend was riding with the guy in the F-250, called out 1-2-3-go. We both took off at the same time, I jumped out just a tad, but once I caught traction, I put a truck length on him. We raced to a 100 mph and by the time it was over, I had 3 truck lenghts on him. I was expecting to beat him more, but oh well. The wheels and tires hold me back a little. A win is a win and definately a good race. Anyhow, just thought I'd share my kill.

He was 4WD, but he said he ran it in 2WD. I'm not expert a diesel truck drag racing, but most guys I know who drag race diesels and are 4WD, race in 4 wheel high. They always net better results.

only when traction is a problem. Otherwise that heavy front axle and the transfer case rob HP. 2wd is definitely quicker due to weight and less drivetrain HP losses. But, if traction sucks, then yes 4wd is better.

Oh I see. Well either way, I took the Ford which is always a good feeling. We both raced 2WD, so that was pretty fair. Anyhow, is your truck 2WD? Maybe one day we can line 'em up. I'm sure you'll crack my ***, but it'll still be fun. Never expected you to buy a Dodge being such a hardcore fan of Chevys and all.

Mine is 4x4. Racing in 2wd still has to carry the heavy front axle and still goes thru the transfer case. Both slow a truck down. Mine feels pretty boring off the line, but seems to do pretty well from a roll.
+100 rwhp +200 ft-lbs on the TST box, and MBRP 4" exhaust. Still has a catalytic on it.

Would be a good race. We have very similar setups. A cat makes a little difference with EGTs, but I'm sure there's not a whole lot of gain as far as performance goes. On my tuner, I have it on the highest setting which is the 120hp tune, but I've never had it on the dyno to see what the actual gains are.

Nice...
It just doesn’t get much better than having one of these big diesel trucks that can be fun too.
I raced a co-workers bolt-on 97 Cobra and absolutely killed it with my LLY Duramax programmer only..

I absolutely love my LBZ Duramax. Couldn't be happier.
I really do need to invest in a built tranny, but I'll hold off until it gives out. I installed the Transgo Jr. as a band-aid for the additional power with the programmer. It should last though because I don't drive my truck hard. Gota take care of my baby.
I'm not into diesel drags, not that I don't appreciate it, just don't want to get influenced if you know what I mean. I'll stick to regular drag racing, as in my Camaro.
