some posting i found while googling:

Japanese Kobe Beef: Trade policies have recently relaxed and some authentic Japanese Kobe beef is beginning to come into the United States. Kobe beef from Japan has a high fat content that causes the meat to melt in your mouth. This high-end steak can cost as much as $20 per ounce, which is what you will find at the new Wolfgang Puck CUT restaurant in the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles.

You can buy Wagyu beef here but it's not the same as true Kobe beef. Kind of like how sparkling white wine is not the same as Champagne and Mescal is not the same as Tequila.
Fresh Kobe beef has a bluish tint to it and is nearly 90% fat. The cows rarely ever move anywhere and don't have a chance to graze. Obviously it's extremely tender and super rich in flavor.
http://www.yama-beef.com/ I think is the place that is at the state fair every year. http://www.igourmet.com/shoppe/prodv...beef&prod=M024 also has it.
As for cooking, I've seen people slice it thin and eat it raw. I'd think for an American cook it like you would a $28 tenderloin only at a slightly lower temperature and about half the time. I've never tried it but there was a show on the food network about it several years ago.
