Does anyone work at Car Toys off of El Dorado or other Houston location?
I'm looking for someone that could possibly "hook me up" on some equipment. Well...actually, its my Birthday today and my girlfriend wants to buy it for me. I wanted to see if someone could help me out on prices since Car Toys is much higher compared to ones on the net. I used the location El Dorado in the title because for one, its the closest location to me, and 2, there's not one for another 31 miles. So I figured I'd stick with the El Dorado location. Anyhow, I'm looking for these items:
(2) JL Audio 10W3V2 or V3s
JL Audio 500/1
JL Audio 300/4
Alpine IVA-W200
Focal 165V2
Focal 130CV1
If you or anyone who knows of someone that works at Car Toys off of El Dorado or I'd even consider the one in West Oaks off of Highway 6 if someone is willing to help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

I'm not downing Car Toys at all. I just know that there are cheaper prices out there, but I don't prefer to purchase off of Ebay or some random internet audio shop. I know there is markup and that's fine and all, but I was hoping I could score a "hook up," even if its XX%. Why do you even insist on being a smart *** and bringing up my parts for sale? Let's not let this get out of hand and turn into a war here. Let's just be adults and stick to the topic. Thanks.

Wow you are too easy to get stirred up. I was just messing with ya. Try www.slickdeals.net goto forums and hot deals. Try to find some coupons for XX% off or something. Or try www.pricewatch.com or www.pricegrabber.com or www.crutchfield.com. Instead of just jumping on here and asking question do some leg work yourself and you can find stuff.

Sorry. Its been a long day and a pretty good one at that being my Birthday and all. I just get so fed up with members here on the board, particularly in the Texas section who always have to start **** with me. The past is the past, leave it in the past. It just gets old posting threads and them getting bashed.
Anyhow, the reason I was looking for someone who worked at the Car Toys on El Dorado, is because its about 30 mins. from me which is kinda convenient. Plus, if I can find someone that works there, then there's a good chance that I could save some cash which is always a good thing. I actually was hoping to get this done sometime this weekend if possible.
Thanks for the leads by the way.

You have a couple thousand dollars worth of stuff listed there. If you have cash for all of that, why are you so worried about finding someone that works there? Do you really think they'd hook up some guy off the street anyway?
You have a better chance of getting good prices on stuff by buying all of that stuff at one time. Im sure they'd work with someone who is spending 2 G's at their store.

I went in there today. They want a fortune for the equipment and installation. They quoted me almost $4700! You gota be kidding me. Here's what was on sale.
JL Audio 500/1 $549 On sale for $499 (only because they're doing away the silver finish)
JL Audio 300/4 $499 On sale for $399 (same reason)
JL Audio 10W3 $209 On sale for $169
Focal 165V2 $428
Focal 130CV1 $238
Alpine IVA-W200 $999

$2000 for installation? WTF is that? Or did you forget custom made box, or wiring, amp rack..etc...Prices aren't that bad. A little high though.
BUT $2000 for install? Are you sure your not forgetting parts like installation kits, wiring harness, amp kit, distro-boxes, cap, something?

LOL. I missed adding in another $169. So, that's about $2900 + TAX. Figure an easy $200 in tax, that's about $3100 in parts not counting installation parts or a box for the subs.

I'd seriously look at buying from an Ebay store and do the install yourself. You'll save quite a bit of cash. It's not hard since so much is prefab'ed and harness are there with easy wiring charts.
Just read thru a bunch of stereo posts and you'll have it figured out fairly easily.
BUT, I'd look at talking to someone that has built a system or 10 or 20 so they can tune it correctly. It's similar to a car where it isn't tuned right, it can sound like crap. Similar to a car running like crap without a good PCM tune.

2 subs, component set, coaxle set, 2 amps, and the head unit, equipment alone comes out to $2906. There are other things in there that are needed for installation. He gave me a detailed quote on paper, but by hand-writing since their computers were down and it said $750 for labor. That's installing everything and building the box for behind the seat.

If you want to get the cheaper stuff from Car Toys, ask for the "B" stock. Basically it is refurbished but still carries the regular warranty. Usually 10% to 30% off the retail price. It won't save you on installs but it's something.
Also, spend some time to get to know the salesperson. Hopefully he/she has more knowledge about the stuff you want rather than just the list pricing. Stroke the Ego. They are sure to cut you a break when you want to install a complete sound system.
If all you are after are cheaper prices, ebay or pricewatch.
