who is gonna win???
all right guys i know quite a bit about cars, f-bodys mostley; but i dont know any thing about the fox body mustangs. I have a 1985 camaro with a 350 700R4 trans and stock rear. It has a edelbrock 650 K@N, headers and flowmaster. My Brother has a 1990 Gt, cold air intake, msd, and a mac catback. he still is trying to get his going smoothly but when he finally does were gonna go at it. my question is who is gonna bite the dust, my car or his? He is allways around with my cousin and they run their mouth all day long about my car being a piece of and I would really like to show them up. I know that these cars couldnt even compete with ls1's but u gotta start some where, who would u put ur money on ???

If his is a 5 spd and he can drive worth a **** my money is on him.
Too many variables with older cars though. Lots of times they are not running 100% because something is wrong with them.

Back in the day, stock vs. stock, the old f-body's had a hard time keeping up with the 5.0's.

I'll be the first to admit that third gen with 305's are slow compared to todays vehicles. His is a 5 speed and mine is a A4, so the driver mod might come into play on his part i'm just going to have to wait till my car comes back from the body shop and he gets his going.

His mustang all the way...especially if he has a gear....
I use to tear up 3rd gens in my Mustang....especially 305's with the 5 speed but truthfully the 350's/auto weren't that much better....
Good luck!

i got a 1000 bucks layin around, i was going to get a bike but i leave for the Navy sept. 5 and decided against it. what all would i need to buy with that much, to at least beat him. Its kinda hard when ur in high school with a part time job trying to compete with him when he has a full time job and alot more $ to blow.

The Fox will get you as is and I dont think 1K will get you over the hump either. Do yourself a favor and save that money up towards a stroker or something. LS1 swaps are getting cheaper also. No problems with 5.0's here.

i already have plans for a 355 that would take care of him and a few ls1's but thats gonna take a while to build. I was thinking about a ls1 but fuel injected motors are not my thing. To much hassle and to carb a ls1 just isnt worth it in my eyes.

Look into the Comp Extreme energy line, performer RPM, and a Holley vacuum secondary 650 should do ya, you need to have a halfway decent gear, and a stall would greatly help, he prolly will get you by 3-6 cars or more maybe, thats what my buddy got me buy with a similar setup by about 3, it was a tbi 350 in a 86TA, 2.73, no stall, close though, you can easily make the difference when you build the 355, if you spend the money on a 383 kit you would be happier, in this case bigger is definitely better.
