Cool LS1TECH.com GTO - Update!

Here is our project GTO, fresh from the paint shop (Richey Collision in Houston, TX). We installed the Monaro nose and emblems, and a set of Ruff Racing 19" wheels/tires. The wheels are hyper black with machined lips under clearcoat, which are important for low maintenance since this is a daily-driver. I had to roll the rear fender lips to clear the tires. Here are the vital stats on those:

Ruff Racing model 279 (purchased on ebay)
19x8.5 fronts (35mm offset) w/ 245/35-19 Nitto tires
19x9.5 rears (45mm offset) w/ 275/30-19 Nitto tires

The Holden Monaro nose and emblems came from JHP in Australia. Richey Collision did a great job on filling in and smoothing the gap and holes where the license plate typically would mount on the bumper.

Now all we need is the APS twin-turbo to show up from Australia

If you are going on the Hotrod Power Tour, I'll be doing the long haul from Texas to Ohio to Arkansas in this car

Tony

My, my...you have great taste!
That is by far the cleanest GTO I've ever layed eyes upon.

Got any pics of the fenders after you rolled them?

Didn't take any pics, but I used the Eastwood fender roller and got those lips from about 90 degrees flat up to about 30 degrees from vertical. It looks like I have plenty of clearance, no rubbing yet. I went ahead and rolled them before putting the wheels/tires on, just in case.

Very nice looking. Love the color. Is there a piece available to replace the "GTO" on the lower rear bumper cover?

Yes, there is a smooth one that has a square hole in it for a trailer hitch. Not kidding. I think I'll have this one smoothed instead

Looks very good. One thing though....I would try to take off the Monaro front grille emblem. looks too big and kinds off breaks the clean, smooth style the car has.

There is a circle on the grille behind the emblem, so it needs to be there. I like the emblem, it ads to the "WTF is that??" factor of the car

Are you keeping the stock "GTO" embroidery on the seats?? The dragon emblem would look very good there!!

I'm not 100% anti-GTO, just didn't like the Pontiac nose as much. Besides, they still call them GTO in Aussie land, those are the HSV special editions. Kinda like our SS or WS6 here.
