Thinking about a C5 Z06, need some advice.
Corvettes of Dallas has an '01 Z06 with just shy of 14k miles on it. They're asking $30,995 for it, I feel that I can get them lower though. Would it be worth getting an '01? The reason I ask is because they have an '02 as well, but it's in Houston. That one has a little over 18k miles and it's $2k more than the '01.
I've had my Camaro for a little over 4 years, it's cammed/stalled/intake/exhaust/etc. but I feel it's time for something new. I've wanted a C5 Z06 for a LONG time. I just don't know if I should jump on the '01, have them bring the '02 up here or just wait for a local deal on an '02+.

I'll most likely be trading my car in since it takes too long to sell it locally. If they don't give me something reasonable for it, I'll just forget the whole thing. While I don't expect much, since I know all too well how dealers work, I expect a certain dollar amount for it. If they can't meet it, oh well.

Well the 01 looks badass with those rims but if it was me I would go 02 or up and just try to work them down on the price. If they dont work with you on the price the corvette forum has some badass deals. GoodLuck with the buy.

I sold my 01 with 23k on it, 422 rwhp, cammed, full bolt on's, 19inch c6 wheels, 5 yr b2b warranty for $28,500.
I almost bought another 01 with 7k on it for $29k.
You should be able to get an 01 for around $26k with low/descent mileage.

if you plan on cam swap in the future, it dosent really matter. the 02 had a little bigger cam. id take the black one out of the 2 myself but id say keep looking good deals come up on these thing all the time.

That's also what I was figuring, since I'll be modding it then it really doesn't matter that it has "only 385hp." I mean, my Camaro does that at the wheels, but I'm sure the Z06 will feel faster.
I took a look around the Corvette Classifieds and there are a few that piqued my interest, I'll have to dig more into my options. Only problem buying from an individual is getting rid of my car to help pay for the Z06.

Probably should start shopping your Camaro around and wait till you find a buyer then you will have more negotiating power with either Private Sellers or Dealerships

So I stopped by there today after work. Those wheels look better in person, but I'd still be swapping them out. The guy is going to have to get bids on my car since it's not a Corvette (or else, they would make me an offer.) I told him the minimum I would take for it and left it at that. I'll wait for him to get back to me, if he does..
We'll see what happens, if all goes well I'll be driving an '01 Z06. First mod: get rid of that shifter boot.

A member here recently sold his 02 with CCW's and even threw in a DD saturn for that price.

do not get a 01. mine burned a quart of oil every 800 miles,
had the steering wheel lock problem, and abs and traction control system were not working. With those rip off price's why wouldnt you just get a C6?
