Help!!! Trouble With MOTOR!
looks like the dowel pin off the timing gear.
I wouldn't worry about the pistons being the same height. Spin the motor around, are they all moving evenly?
Start looking for a 02 and up 6.0 short block.

UPDATE: ok i found the problem, it was the dowel pin, on the cam and the sproket was completely loose and all 3 bolts. everything is fine and the motor is turning over by hand... now what should i do. should i put everything back together and clean it back up. and throw on a set of stock 241's?

you need to rebuild the bottom end with new bearings. . . . . it's like talking with a mouth full of grap nuts.
If you're . . " really lucky " . . . . your filter might have gotten the big chunks. Either way, fix it now, and it won't be that expensive, . . . . or keep driving it, and it's just going to chew up things even worse.

Pull the oil filter and cut it in half and see if you see metal shavings or pieces in the filter. If you can pull the pan easily look in the pan for the same. If your car wasn't tuned with a wide band 02 sensor to set A/F ratio and your tuner was going of stock 02's you could have leaned it out and broke something. IT doesn't take long to spin a bearing or pull a ring land and then all heck brakes loose. I have seen it with many stock LS1. Good part is if you have to break it down; go back in with some good forged stuff- especially pistons and rods. Unless you are spraying or going forced industion the stock crank with 6 bolt mains is stout up to a degree.
Pat with those Eye marks on your pistons, its a FOR SURE thing that you bent a valve or two. You can't see them with the naked eye but take them to a head shop and they will tell you how many you have. I had elliotts portworks do my heads back in high school. I had about 4-5 bent valves, and didn't even know it and thats after the dealership changed all the pushrods twice. So I would have them checked out.
Set the motor on the stand and disassemble the rotating assembly. Clean and inspect everything meticulously. Specifically take pictures of the bearings, and rod caps, also look at the pistons and ring groves. This will tell you whether or not to put it back together. Take the pump pick up off and look at the screen. If it was mine it would be thrown in a vat, machined and align honed, resized rods with forged pistons and ARP rod bolts. New oil pump, lifters, cam etc and freshen up the heads if I was on a budget. You could do it right for about 1500 in parts and labor if you shopped smart.

ok i got a set of 241's and im going to put my patiort extreme springs on there i cleanded the **** out of the motor bolt holes. etc. im gonna put everything back together. and flush the hole motor with some cheap oil and drain the hole thing out. and hope for the best.
it was just the dowel pin that came out how much damage could it really do if it was just attached to the oil plug the whole time?
