Larry Cato (PaiN) ran 180.5mph today in his C6. Pretty cool considering his LS2 is internally stock, with just headers and a D1SC Procharger. An Automatic too. Bet he's happy with the fact that he beat all of the stock Z06s and even a few modded ones and all he had to do was leave it in drive and stab the throttle.

I only saw 1 4th Gen F-Body running. It was a guy from Ft. Worth with an LS7 and a nice front air dam. He ran 176mph when I saw him go. He was claiming his motor made over 700 hp, but I'd have to say his power to the wheels is closer to 500-525 rwhp.

The Texas Mile is very humbling though. It's amazing how much power it takes just to go over 180mph. You need around 575-600 rwhp to break 180. You pretty much need 900-1000 rwhp to exceed 200 mph.
The "ls7" is actually a bored and stroked ls2. It has etp ls7 heads though. He went on to run 180.2 mph on Sunday.

The folks at et who he spoke with said the combo should make 700hp at the motor. Obviously there is still some tuning needed, but i'm fairly sure it makes more than 525 rwhp.

Picking up 4 mph in an event like the mile is a big gain. Sounds like the car is making closer to the power claimed. Well done.

4 mph is a big gain in that event, no doubt.

Another driver at the event who drives a GTO went from 157 mph stock to 163 with full exhaust and a cam. I'm really suprised how much power it takes to go just a little faster.

On a side note, Patrick, are you familiar with any ls7 cam specs? If so, do they normally run a much larger exhaust duration than intake to offset the huge intake flow of the heads?

Yes, it's very common to see 12-15 degree splits on LS7 cams, even with long tube headers.

Correct.. For the street car record that tommy wanted you had to be on a normal street tire.
