Default How to remove rear axles

How do you get to the c-clips with this carrier?I've removed the axles off of the 8.5 rear end with one bolt and then the cross shaft slides down and you just push the axles in and the c-clips drop out,but this one is foreign to me.I want to replace my stock studs with 2.5'' arp studs.

well if it has traction you should see like a little adapter thing on the backing plate....i believe its like a 10mm not sure.... just undo that push axle back and should slide out.... the car should have a asr button (camaro) or tcs(trans am) if it has traction control

It doesn't have trac control hence the reluctor ring on the ring gear. U dont need to pull the axles to put studs in. There is a hole in the backing plate of both wheels in the rear where u just line up the stud ends to the hole and knock them out. Of course u will need to take the rotors off in the rear to see it though.

The backing plates on my car are solid no holes,I already knocked one stud out and tried to fit the 2.5'' arp stud through but there's not enough room to put it in.If I drill a hole I'm going to have to go through the back side and it did not look like the drill would fit to do it right,so tomorrow when I get home from work I'm going to spin the drive shaft over and see if I can see a bolt to remove that will allow the axles to push in and drop the c-clips.

it should pop right off.... try using a little extension magnet.... and push the axle out... should fall out to the magnet

From the pics you posted, you still have the cross pin installed (the gray thing inside the posi unit between the axle splines).
Rotate the posi unit 180 degrees and you should see the cross pin retainer bolt.
Remove the bolt (it's sitting sideways, parallel to the axles) and rotate the posi another 180 degrees and the cross pin should slide out of the unit.
Push in one of the axles (from the fender to the center line of the car) and the C-Clips should be in the center of the posi unit and easily removeable (one at a time).
