Pretty "safe" hire IMO. Time will tell the story....

Definately a 'safe' hire. Sherman has been successfull both as a head coach and offensive co-ordinator. If he can adjust to the college game (Recruiting, excitement level, emotions) and get some good coordinators around him he will be a good pick I think.

Man, I was just in the crapper reading about this!

Sounds like he's going to bring a lot to their organization!

From everything I've read it seems like he is a good fit.

He is lucky to come in and already have two solid running backs and 2 QBs ready to roll

I'm not sure how I would feel about this as an Aggie fan. It seems (from the outside looking in) that they didn't make much of an effort to go after some of the "big names" we were hearing. What happened with Tubberville? What about Spurrier? Tedford?

I hope they aren't settling for what is a quick/convenient hire. Time will tell.

tubberville was never even interested, the same week he told atm he might be interested, he bought a house, and his son is way too involved in the highschool football along with his wife being way too involved in whatever they call their parent teacher organization, he loves it there, just wanted a raise

I think BB has been talking with MS for a couple weeks now. It has been very secretive from BB. The only thing that has fanned the flames of the other coaches were the boards. I knew SS had no chance of coming here, TT would of been possible and same with Tedford. TT might have been using this to his advantage, since he's meeting with the AD today he should get a nice raise out of it. Especially since a bunch of programs will be looking for coaches. I trust BB on his hires and this is the one he MUST get right in order to stay around. His job isn't in jeopardy, but since this is a football school this could be his job.

I'm in a wait and see attitude with this hire, same with turgeon. Its a traditional BB hire, the rumors of him were light and them out of nowhere we have a pc. And a new coach.

Unfortunately

But we don't have a real defensive coordinator so I can see us buying one, I just wish Greg Davis would just quit though because I can't see Mack firing him.

I never noticed how much not having Limas Sweed hurt us till the A&M game also.

not a huge fan of good ole' boy teams....Your job security should hinge on your performance not who you know. Fran dragged his whole posse from TCU and Bama(minus gary patterson) It might happen with MS too.

Not gonna happen for you guys Gray.

This hire really didn't knock my socks off. I guess we'll see how it pans out. I'm just glad that the 'fran era' is FINALLY over and we can move on.

Duane Akina was passed over multiple times for the DC position. This season exhibits why.

And I'm tired of Mack Brown saying, "We've won with Greg Davis." Technically, this is true, but I'm tired of winning in spite of Greg Davis.

Losing football games at UT is only good because it forces everyone to look at the program's deficiencies instead of reveling in our past glories.
