Is downloading music off of Lime Wire illegal?

Default Is downloading music off of Lime Wire illegal?
Lime Wire is free to dowload on Download.com and I'm sure you know, it's a program/software that allows you to download music, videos, etc. Is downloading music off of Lime Wire illegal? If so, then why does Lime Wire exist? If it were illegal, why hasn't it been banned or removed? Why is it free to download off of Download.com?

do you really not know if downloading copyrighted music is illegal?

the Limewire program is not illegal, people sharing illegally is

YES DOWNLOADING COPYRIGHT MATERIAL OFF OF LIMEWIRE IS ILLEGAL! The reason they cannot be sued is be it is a P2P network, Peer to Peer, LIMEWIRE itself is not illegal but sharing copyright material over limewire is. You are basically sharing files with other users, not with limewire.

What he said, if they just randomly choose you out of the thousands of people who download illegal music, they can sue you for a heafty penny and prob. win too.

usually they just go after the people that are actually uploading huge amounts of it and sharing it with everyone else. So if your going to download turn your sharing off, and you will be a little bit safer but its not to say they couldnt go after someone if they just wanted to be dicks.

your chances of actually getting in trouble are slim too none if your not sharing tons and tons of files but it is still possible.

Dont forget about the girl that was sued and fined $9k for each song she had shared and she had 24 songs. They made an example out of her, $216,000
