Thumbs up Photos - Texas Viper Roundup 2008

This past weekend I attended the "Texas Viper Roundup" near Austin/San Marcos. It was a 3 day event, but I missed the first day (Friday) but was there Saturday and Sunday. We cruised the beautiful central TX hill country and Lake Travis, visited an old car museum, had three-digit mph fun runs on a tollway, had dinner at the Oasis restaurant, and had a private track day at a new 1.8 mile road course in San Marcos.

I took about 100 photos, but here are a few of my favorites, there were about 40 Vipers in attendance, half of them were supercharged!

Wow, that's really cool. I especially like the shot of the two generations of blue / white stripes. Do those Viper emblems on the back double as a third brakelight?

Yes, they are a third brake light.

Nice stuff too. What did you think about that road course in San Marcos?

I would've just driven my vehicle into a ditch..
I mean, seriously.. The second they passed me, I'd turn my wheel to the left or right, go straight into a ditch, get out the car and walk home.

I wonder how much all those cars are worth together.

It was a lot of fun, but needs longer straights. I still dig Road Atlanta the most so far.

Road Atlanta is truly a one of a kind track, just like Sebring, etc.

I felt like I was driving an automatic Viper on the San Marcos track. I did the entire thing in 3rd gear. It wasn't long enough for me to get up to speed for 4th (right at redline in 3rd) and I never had to go slow enough to use 2nd. Funny, eh?

Cool pics, how do you like modifying the Viper compared to the LS1s?

Modding a Viper is like Corvette tax times 2. Not so fun? But, they are too damn slow stock, and they look too fast to be that slow. 440 rwhp stock isn't going to cut it.
