Mow grass. Good luck making $10/hr at a regular job there. I grew up there all the way through high school and there's just no money.

Unless you go work in the oil fields, roughnecking will make you some money, but it's hard work with long hours. I think starting pay is $14-$18 w/ about 40-60 hours + a week.

That is a good place, they're making a lot of money right now and buying up a few other companies.

Owens Corning would probably pay good, but if you're living in Pampa it would kind of dumb to commute for 2 hours a day, with gas prices that high you'd can kiss a lot that hard earned money goodbye.

Pampa - Titan Specialties, Leonard Hudson Drilling (now Patterson-UTI Texas), or you might be able to get on with a service company. Halliburton is there, Schlumberger has a yard in Perryton.

Otherwise, move to Amarillo. What experience / education do you have?

Why don't you try applying with the railroad? I know BNSF is hiring around the Lubbock and Amarillo area, starting pay is almost $20 an hour.

BTW when is Burnin the Bricks? I need to put in my request for vacation from work.

Yea my cousin works for BNSF and he told me to apply but I got too much school to even attempt working for them! I believe their hiring for "welders" and "laborers", both of which pay really good. And I can't wait for Burnin the Bricks! I gotta get my nitrous thrown in before then too.

railroad x2

I've been telling him that for a while now, you start off as a switchperson/brakeman then move up from there. And you being single makes it that much easier since your ALWAYS on call to leave, and sometimes for a week at a time!

The hardest part for working for Halliburton is showing up for work. I work in coil tubing and that dept is work, but not hard. Scluberger sux, They treat thier employees like ****. at least they do down here in the permian basin. Halliburton hires for more here and higher in Brownfield. If they are saying ten an hour that dont sound rite, mabey twelve to forteen. But you can get raises quikly if you apply yourself. Patterson/UTI is a good company, better than big dog and safer than H&P. Baker is a great company to. I work on everything to include down hole tools, dirrectional drilling, fishing, etc. and work around pretty much all the company on Product enhancement. Like I said not hard, just long hours.
