Default Burning

Oil in a diesel will work if you filter it real good!!!! You running dirty oil and it will kill your engine shortly. A diesel gets a lot of engine blowby into the oil pan. It ruins your oil for your crankshaft and everything. Just make sure you change oil and filter when necessary. Filter your NEW fuel very well and you will be OK.....I have run diesel generators on oil produced by the very oil well they are pumping. Thousands of them in fact!!!! Just make sure you clean it as well as you can

You should probably beat the **** out of every once in a while, hopefully you won't get massive amounts of carbon buildup on the pistons and injector nozzles.

Why not run some jet fuel or kerosene?

Not too far off topic, but a guy I work with puts a quart of transmission fluid into his tank evertime he fills up. He said a ford tech told him to do it. He a F-350 with the 7.3. According to the tech, the new diesel that's being sold is hurting older diesel engines due to the lack of sulfer. The tranny fluid is suppose to make up for it somehow. Anyway, I just thought I'd share.

^^^ That is also what I have heard.^^^ On the statement of jet fuel I used to work at a helicopter base and there was a guy there that would run a mixture of Grade A jet fuel and motor oil in his diesel. because every morning we would about 5 gallons out of each 15,000 gallon tank to test and make sure it was clean. So instead of throwing it with waste he would take it and make diesel out of it.

The problem is, if you have new diesel running the particulate exhaust system, you are going to run into a heap of trouble. Straight motor oil has more unbuned emmissions than the now, highly refined(read...fukin expensive) diesel does.
On an old 12V Cummins, you might be ok, though I still wonder just how long the injectors and fuel filters are going to work effenciently with this method.
On a newer truck, you would be ill advised to try this!!!

Oh, btw....it is advised, particularly on the older diesels, to run a pint(the lil $2 bottle) of the walmart brand SuperTech 2cyl oil in each tank, to help lubricate where the more modern diesel fuel is failing...as stated above!
I, personally do this and have seen anywhere from 2-3MPG increase.

Wow this is interesting to hear.. about running the oil in the gas like that.
most would of thought that it would mess up the engine, but very interesting for the diesel guys....

Like I said before my truck does not have a DPF, and I am running fresh unused motor oil. You are correct though I would not be doing this if it did have a DPF, it would be clogged up in no time at all.

It will be a week before I drive the truck again so I'll see how she cranks up after sitting.

2nd to last year model... 07 is the last of the 5.9s. The 6.7s w/ DPF started in 07.5!!

Hummmm all these theories are interesting... with such low miles on my truck, it makes me nervous to try them tho. Anyone know if you need to wait until the truck is broken in??

All I can vouch for is the 2cycle oil...now understand, that the P7100 in the 12V(94-98.5) is a completely different critter than the VP44 in the 24valves!
However, I have seen many people(cumminsforum.com) run the 2cyl oil in 24Valvers.
I havnt researched any possible pitfalls with the 24valve, so I would advise a lil research b4 I did it!

Just want to make sure that everyone understands that a diesel is not a diesel anymore...you cant do this with the DPF equiped trucks!

yes...here on the drilling rig they have a filter setup that they run used oil thru and dump it into the 20,000 galon diesel fuel tank...they try to keep it around 10%- 15% oil....they have been doing this since 1987....

you need to be careful about running farm grade diesel in a truck thats supposed to have only ultra low sulfur....not b/c of harm to the engine but if you ever get caught with it on the highway you'll be lookin at a nice little fine.....
