I have a dumb question
I have a dumb question How do I know the difference between a stock LS1 intake and the LS6?
I'm new to all of this stuff and I am going early in the morning to buy a complete '02 Pullout. As I understand it, they are supposed to have the LS6 intake but I have NO idea what they look like and want to make sure I am not getting screwed.

yeah only 98-00 had egr. The best way to tell is to take it off. But w/ out pulling it your gonna have to judge from the EGR tube/ head castings. BTW I have owned 2 cars now that were 2000's with 241 heads, not all 241 headed cars were 01+.

Well, that sucks *****. I was told the assembly was out of an '02 Camaro so I just drove over 700 miles round trip to pick it up and I get there and the guy tells me that the casting number was between the tranny bellhousing and the block so he doesn't know what it is.
I start looking over the motor closely and found the casting number. It was the 12559378 which I was told was a '00 block? it had the LS6 NON EGR intake but it wasn't the mid year casting number and had the 241 heads.
I am finally home and pissed off. I left without it.
He also told me numerous times that it had 55K on it but when I asked him again while I was there, he said around 58K.
Whatever.
The search continues.

Hmm I was tired as hell last night when I was reading about the differences. I read somewhere that the '02 had better rods or rod bolts, better oil pumps and coated pistons?
Besides, I didn't like the idea that I was being 'sold' an '02 motor with the '00 casting number on the block.
Screw it, at least I got to stop and see some old friends in San Angelo and see the town for the first time in 16 years
