Tell them you'll pay cash. Guy at my exhaust shop did a great job for $40 cash, athough we agreed for that price I didn't get a reciept or anything. I think the dude just pocketed the $$$.

Yeah, one shop quoted me $80 - I keep the cats. She wanted to keep them and do it for $60.

well does the $60 include the parts? if so, thats not really that bad... and like others said, you want them to be lined up right or it will look stupid.

when i had the cat replaced on my 88, it cost me like $120 including the part. it took them longer for us to discuss the job and get it on the lift than it did for them to actually do the job... i dont think it even took them 5 minutes of actual work after they got it in the air. i can definitley see tips taking a little longer to do.

Sorry. I meant the stock cats. The exhaust shop lady wanted to keep the stock cats.
