Default 408 vs 427

I am thinking about getting rid of my 5.7 LS1 and going with either a 408 6.0 block or a 427. What would y'all suggest?

also, are you wanting to stay N/A, or do you think you'll ever want to go with a turbo or supercharger?

if you want boost, i'd stay away from the 427 (7.0L)....from what i've heard, the cylinder walls are too thin to hold much boost. someone please correct me if i'm wrong on that, tho

For that budget, you really have no choice but to go 408. If not smaller.

Well, I have a friend that went from the 427 to a 408. I can get his 427 block pretty cheap. So, money is really out of the question. I just want to know if I would benefit more having a 408 vs a 427 or vice versa.

I know I have QUITE a bit more than $6k just in my LSX 427ci shortblock.
Good heads alone nowadays are $2k+(TEA TF, ET, AFR).
Stuff adds up really quickly.

I actually am selling my MTI heads off my 427, if you get your buddies block.

Very true. The block is just one piece of the puzzle, The stuff you attach to the block often runs much more.

I would really go the 408 route if I were you. As money allows later, just spray it more
