ok I want to do a weird mod. I think someone already did it. On the ram air hood, the vents it seems to have that "blockage" for the air to go just straight through. I want to cut that fiberglass part behind the vents and when it rains I want to close it up with some acrylic vents or something, has anybody done this or have an idea?? thanks!!!

Drill the rivets on the under side of the hood. Once you do, you just need to pry off the vents that are blocking the way (they are held on with glue).
Run the grills off when you want air to come in, and put the grills back in when not wanting. (I sprayed water directly at it with the grills on and not one drop got through.

I don't get it. Why destroy a perfectly functional hood? You cut that thing and you may gain like 5 HP...it's not worth it. IMOHP.
I took my SS scoop grill out and lost it...wish I just left it alone.

Really though, do what you want, "to each his/her own". I feel sorry if you ever have to replace the hood just to sell it to the next owner, that free HP is gonna cost you.

the ram air is worthless on these cars to begin with, no point in ruining a hood. if you want more air, cut the underneath of where the filter sits on. if you want to go even more into detail take out the plastic guard that sits behind the condensor and it will let air flow freely.

basicly, there's alotta controversy (sp) on it and it's pretty much proven it's a looks thing. there's a few threads on it and some good info to be read. but my best way of explaining a real "RA" set up is like pro stock. one of my analogies on this forced air is that the computer will only take in as much air as needed so it's not actually forcing it, just making it less strained pulling it in. such as get a water hose and put it in your mouth, put it on full blast and see how much water (air) you can take in down your throat (intake) and how much pushes back out. it's because your body (ECU) doesn't need, or can't handle it, so it rejects it. at least that's how i had to explain it to some numb nuts who didn't want to understand it lol.
