Default Guys who work offshore

What do you daily drive when you go to the port? Older trucks seems like the popular choice.

I get a vehicle allowance every month, some of the guys I work with have company vehicles. The company trucks arent bad, couple diesel 2500s, mainly 1500 Silverados and F-1fiddys. If I keep the Blazer I'll do well so long as it doesn't fall apart.

when i went offshore I never took my own car to the dock. I would get a ride there. depending on your job, you may not be comming back to the same dock. It would suck to leave your car in Fourchon and come into galveston just to get a ride to fouchon to get your car and drive it back to houston/home

Ask tony about his experience with this sort of stuff lol

Our company prefers crew transport due to the fact that we rarely come and go from the same place. And that way you dont have to worry about guys wanting to come off the vessel because their 40k truck is in Fourchon.

I got sick of beating up my 08 Silverado going to crappy ports and leaving it and such, so I bought a decent cheap truck. Now I need a toy....

Most offshore guys get paid enough to buy shiny new trucks. I usually see more new trucks in those holding lots than beater trucks. lol

Default Off shore

I have a buddy who's an offshore paramedic, if I remember correctly he leaves his car at DFW and a helo takes him to the rig. I think he works for Halliburton. But to answer your question he drives a beater.

I am guessing he gets a ride from DFW to the coast to get on the Helo. I have never heard of helos going out of DFW (especially for someone that is not a VP or somthing big)

the best helo service I have ever had or heard of was going into the NOLA airport. it was great I would get a flight to NOLA, go to the other side of the airport and get on the chopper and go offshore. The chopper was the operators chopper so they could make stops along the way and stuff too.

sure beats going out of fourchon or venice or any of the other places way out there.

Just roll the Blazer and get a white C6 with all the extra money you'll have.

Thats what I plan on using for now, I sure as **** dont want to take the TA. The lots here at work are rock and mud and get nasty when it rains any sort of low car would get torn up.
