Default LS1 camshaft install tool

Anybody used the one from Thunder racing? ITs the one that keeps the lifters up while installing. Its pretty expensive, so was wanting to see if anyone had one and what it looks like a am trying to just make one myself.

go to home depo and buy the 5/16 aluminium dowels/rod. it will slide right in there and you dont have to worry about breaking it off..iv used mine about 6 times now on my car and others..cost about 10 bucks..

Spin the cam over a few times to get the lifters stuck in the guides then slide the dowels in the holes on the front of the motor. One on each side of the cam. The lifters will sit on the dowels and you are free to pull the cam out without worrying about lifters falling down.

little holes to the left and right above the cam shaft hole. slide the dowels carefuly in while rotating the motor and they wil go through the lifter and hold them up.......

+1 on wooden dowels. Just make sure after you measure the length you need to add about 6 to 7 inches so you can grab them.
