I need to replace air compressor's pressure switch with something else.
I need to replace air compressor's pressure switch with something else. I've had this Campbell Hausfeld compressor for about 3 years and I've had the pressure switch replaced twice. The little red **** always breaks off and we have no way to turn on the compressor. Can I replace the little red switch with something else like a light switch or something? Or is there a better option? I'm just tired of fighting with the switch for 5 minutes everytime I want to turn on the compressor.

Actually, I should have worded things differently. I just want to make a new on/off switch. I need my compressor this weekend. Can I just take a screwdriver and jump the black wire to the white wire and hold it there 'til the compressor is at the right psi?
I just talked to a buddy, he said I would have fried myself if I would have touched that 220V wire with a screwdriver...that's enough to scare me. I decided to just let a real electrician show me how to wire it up correctly and not mess anything up. I'm gonna see if tractor supply has any of those lever types switches. Thanks ya'll.
The compressor should be controlled at the breaker.. not the psi switch.
Your electrician can wire in a remote contactor that will remove the hi load from the psi sw. The psi sw then becomes a low load controller, only.
Take a look at the high end compressors... They use the remote.
It's not all that much $$ to make a fool proof control.
