I have an old Sears Craftsman Die grinder that I bought in the 80's. I replaced the bearings once and it still works but is pretty tired. I still use it for odd jobs but does not turn as fast as it once did.

My next one will be a Milwaukee. I used one once and really liked it. Waiting to buy one until i need it.

I use a Foredom TX flex shaft grinder with a foot control. 1/3 horsepower and 0-15000 RPM . A little pricey but works great. You can get one here for $290.00 : http://www.ottofrei.com/Foredom-TX-5...Shaft-Kit.html

I have a Craftsman which has lasted me a long time,
has a long aluminum snout which is pretty sturdy. It
gets real hot in continuous use.

But I use a "throwaway" one I got off eBay for $13.
It is all plastic and the nose "keeper" keeps popping
loose which is a minor nuisance. But it worked fine
with long shank burrs for my head porting. I used
a triac type lamp dimmer in a cobbled up outlet box
for speed control. It is this type here:

I just waited until I could snag one on the cheap. It
has certainly given me more than my money's worth
so far and shows no sign of quitting.

If you want the best:
http://ccspecialtytool.com/

1/3 hp with a 2 year warranty. They have porting kits, or individual cutters, stones, sanding shapes

Dewalt here. I think it has more torque than my car.
