I also have snap on torque wrenches (tech wrench). Now I admit I do wrench for a living but don't trust a cheap tool to build an expensive engine/car. Spend the money and sleep well at night.

Agreed. I've been really impressed with all my Snap on tools. There's always a Snap On truck nearby, so get to know one of your local reps, their prices are usually a little bit better than buying from the Website.

Precision Instruments torque wrenches are identical to snap ons. They just have a blue and black handle, apposed to a red and black for the snap ons. I suspect they make them for snap on, but haven't confirmed that yet. If you are concerned about warranty, a Cornwell dealer can get PI torque wrenches. They are not a "cheap" torque wrench by any means.

Yeah def not a cheap torque wrench. I have a friend of mine who works at toyota and wrenches for a living suggest it to me. So i was just verifying. Its in my budget and from what i read they make some great products.

That looks great but don't really care if its digital etc... Just want something that wont lose accuracy too fast or some **** made over seas. Apparently gear wrench is made in the USA. Was looking at this one

or this one

Im not really cheaping out, i just don't need a digital piece.

Was just considering getting a used old snap on clicker style on ebay and getting it recalibrated locally at one of the snap on trucks.

Itll literally be used a handful of times i can't justify spending $200+ on something that will be used not even 10 times.

I have the PI 1/2" torque wrench,( http://www.tooltopia.com/precision-i...-c3fr250f.aspx ) used almost daily, and it is a very nice piece. I believe it cost me $75 to get my snap on 3/8 split beam recalibrated a few years ago so keep that in mind if you buy used. I know a lot of people swear by the cheap HF torque wrenches and the electronic torque adapter, but I can't bring myself to use them. If you need a torque angle finder, you can get one for cheap as well. http://www.tooltopia.com/otc-tools-4554.aspx

I use tool topia almost exclusively now due to free shipping on $100 orders.

Thanks i actually just purchased the gearwrench 85054 torque wrench. Did a bit more looking and their micrometer wrenches are all made in the U.S (stamped on it aswell) so i went with it, how ever there digital torque wrenches are made over seas and assembled in the U.S. Ill let everyone know how it works out. Got it at eastwood for $89 shipped. Tooltopia is sick but i just happened to get some 10% off coupon from eastwood so i used it. I will how ever be ordering the angle finder gauge when i need it later on down the road. Thanks again everyone.

Just for anyone who else is interested in this wrench heres a good thread i found about it.

Snap-on makes great tools. I work there in hand tools If I were to suggest a torque wrench that was less expensive, I would suggest the first one that BlackBetty linked. If you were looking for a bit of a better one I would look into theTechWrench series. I have worked with those personally and they are fantastic wrenches.

I just searched on ebay and there are quite a few used ones. Just make sure they still look in good shape.
