Default connecting rod holder

looking for a tool to hold the connecting rods still during torqueing I have seen a shim type of tool that would go in between the rods on 1 crank journal to keep them from twisting while you torque them I saw that on an episode of ' how its made dream cars' during an engine assembly I just cant seem to find anything for sale anywhere

I use this guy. Works really well and mounts into just about any generic bench top vise.

I think he's looking for the one that goes on the crank journal during assembly
Those vises are only for undoing the bolts after being resized at the machine shop

Something to keep the crank from spinning, or something to keep the rod from twisting on the crank? I’ve never seen or used the latter but I have a tool a guy on here made that goes over the crank snout and bolts to the oil pump holes. It’s got 8 different key holes in to adjust it.

Ah gotcha, I missed that part. I've never used anything like that but I have seen some guys on TV use feeler gauges. Not really convinced it's necessary.

I normally install the rod cap of the adjacent rod onto journal temporarily while torqing the one down as to not distort the bearing

slogo has it correct something like a feeler gauge even with both rods in place on 1 journal there is a certain amount of twisting happening to the rod end and the bearing during torqueing that I wanted to eliminate yea yea I know its not necessary, I also have assembled dozens of engines without ........ but ...... it cant hurt to try for perfection lol
